ok so this is a year late in reply. but the whole point in the name anyway is in description of what the family are like "complete savages" double meaning, not only being a last name but meaning they are indeed complete savages...im done :)

Apparantly, you 've never heard of Jessica Savage. She was the very first nation-wide female newscaster ever, so famous that a made-for-TV movie was made about her. The movie showed her rise to fame in the newscaster industry, and her unfortunate descent into drugs which sadly killed her. She was portrayed in the movie by Sela Ward, the star of the TV Series, " Sisters ".
