H*E*L*P THE SAVAGES!

I read a newspaper article in Seattle which said ABC is going to try and pull the SAVAGES. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Why would they pull the funniest show they have off? Are they crazy? They should have more shows like this and get rid of those lame sucky stupid shows. I feel bad that I had to record the shows but like Dude who is home on Friday night but old people. But I have to say my grandma liked the show and watched it with me. I looked up ABC's address and to make it easy for a million of you I put it here. GIVE US OUR SAVAGES! SAVAGES RULE!

Were they really trying to pull it? I read that Mel Gibson said in an article that it was signed on for a second season!
Now I'm confused.....will this awesome show be cancelled for some lame show, or will this show ride on to a second season to make us all laugh at those boys even more????

If ABC was smart, they wouldn't cancel it. Hopefully Mel Gibson has enough power to prevent cancellation.

As someone suggested in the other thread, Mel Gibson must have been referring to the second half of THIS season.

Here's the info from the ABC network exec:

"Things aren't all flush for ABC: Most of its comedies have been dragging in the ratings. McPherson said the future of the Mel Gibson-produced comedy Complete Savages is up in the air, and he spoke of the coming-of-age drama Life as We Know It in the past tense."

Complete Savages has only slightly lower ratings than "8 Simple Rules" and "Hope & Faith," and if its viewership continues to slowing improve, ABC may order another season.

Not even Mel can save this show. There's a scandulous report about him being racist.

The show got cancelled a year and a half ago. It's definetly not coming back.

How can it improve in the ratings if it's not on? And this article was just in today's paper. I can't beleive this. I suffer through that show in front of the SAVAGES. Why don't they do two SAVAGES instead of that other thing. Who wants to watch their mother date? That's what that show is. It's like gross. And that boy is so not a boy on that show. How could anyone watch those other Friday night shows and think they're better than what is on the SAVAGEs. The Savages is like a whole other league.

reply

We need to do everything in our power to save this show: Write letters, send e-mails, convince others to watch CS when it's on, whatever it takes. This is the funniest comedy on the air right now, and if ABC cancels it, I'm seriously going to stop watching the network (General Hospital's already got me irritated enough to do so).

Cheers didn't do so hot in it's first season, and NBC still gave it a chance to succeed, and it became one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. We need to get them to give CS the same chance.

ABC announced yesterday that Savages will be pulled during Feb and they reduced their season order for eps to 19. Not a good sign at all...

whyyyy! It wasnt doing THAT bad was it/ a lot of people like it from what Ive seen. They just pulled this out of nowhere???

OK I found this..
ABC Wipes Out 'Savages'
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Reporters at the semi-annual Television Critics Association press tour returned to their hotel rooms during the week to discover a DVD holding episodes of ABC's "Complete Savages" and a note from the show's creators Julie and Mike Scully.
"We feel 'Complete Savages' has a place on TV," the letter reads. "Right now, unfortunately, that place is No. 82. That's where you come in."

The DVDs seem to have arrived too late. ABC announced late Tuesday (Jan. 25) that "Complete Savages" has been pulled from the network's schedule effective immediately. In its place, the network will air repeats of "8 Simple Rules" through at least the end of the February sweeps period.

"Complete Savages" is expected to return in March, though the show's order has reportedly been reduced to 19 episodes.
Despite having Mel Gibson has an executive producer, occasional director and one-time guest star, "Complete Savages" has failed to stir up any viewer passion at 8:30 p.m. ET on Friday nights. Through its first 14 episodes, the comedy, which stars Keith Carradine as a single father raising a brood of sons, have averaged 6.09 million viewers, which actually makes it the No. 94 show on network television

how are there THAT many shows ahead of them? I dont even KNOW 94 shows!

@bartallenii

Not sure you will see this as it is 11 years after your post (lol) - but do you still watch General Hospital?

My family and I are going to write and do everything we can to save Savages. Its one of the only shows you can watch with your family now a days.We know alot of people that watch it too!How can these ratings be accurate, when everybody at my high school watches it?The show is extremely funny and entertaining. Why are they showing 2 episodes of 8 Simple Rules, when their ratings are not better?Complete Savages is a breath of fresh air,and we need more shows like it on television.

ABC sucks. Sorry but it does. All they ever promo is that Desperate and Lost show. Sometimes they show those brain-impaired sisters. I feel sorry for the one that used to be on Murphey Brown. She's gotta be wondering what horrible wrong turn she made to end up on that cartoon of a show. It doesn't even make any sense. I wonder if she cries herself to sleep.

Lucky for us AMerican Idol is back on Tues & Wed. And FOX has American Dad and Family Guy coming. Without Savages, I'll watch Bernie Mac. And there's The Simpsons. So, I'll get some laughs.

Good luck Savages. I loved every moment of your shows. I always laughed out loud, something that must offend ABC because they certainly don't offer it in their other comedies. In fact they're calling Desperate Housewives a comedy! They'll probably have David Spade wash up on Lost so they can call that a comedy, too.

Hey Christi,
I am doing the same and have tons of people writing and calling ABC headquarters. When I am done I am going to send it to Stephen McPherson, ABC President.I sure hope we save Savages. Thanks for doing your part as well.

Why should I save a show that is so retarded? I watched one episode and thought it was stupid, I am glad they are cancelling it!!!!!!!!!!!! Goodbye Stupid Savages!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You won't see me crying!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

Well no one said you had to it was intended for the fans of the show who like the savages, and if you think their so stupid then why are you visiting the message board, thats your own opinion and to be completely honest with you they don't care about what you think, and they don't care if you cry or not this show may not be a top ratings hit but its a good show that hasn't been able to prove that yet but they will there very talented actors all of them and they work hard on this show and if you can't see that then that's your own problem.

We have sent letters and emails saying that they need to bring it back and that we can get over 100 signatures if that would help but they said they cant control what they cancel. That is one of the only shows my dad loves and will talk about it at work to everyone. It sucks that you have to be over a certain age to see the tapings because my daughters would be so happy if they could see the taping but there under 18 and 16. We were in DisneyLand when the final taping was showed and we asked our aunt to tape it and our VCR didnt tape it so we will never see the finale and ABC wont send us a copy.

I love this show. Everything about it was funny! ABC doesn't know good comedy. Otherwise, "Hope & Faith", would have been cancelled a LOOOOOONG time ago.

I totally agree with you!! When I heard that "Complete Savages" was to be cancelled, I flipped out. It was one of the funniest shows ABC has had in a long time, and I'd like to slap the idiot who took it off the air. Even if the ratings were down a little, I still don't understand why shows like "8 Simple Rules" and "Hope and Faith" are still on the air? They may be more popular, but they sure can't make me laugh like "Complete Savages." I'm going to write to anyone I can to help save the savages. I hope they remember our names by the time they get done reading our letters. Even if we can't save the show, it will only hurt ABC in the end in the long run!

reply

i totally agree with you ABC has a nick for cancelling some of the best shows it has just because the ratings arnt that good the 1st yeaar. Does anyone remember the old TGIF they had years ago with shows such as Teen Angel, the one where the kid ate the spoiled hamburger after a dare and died, that show definitly was one of the best, and now here i was thinking that ABC had finally made up for cancelling that show by having Complete Savages a show with so much potential it wasnt just that it was funny it was the acting which was incredibly good for a Tv sho, much better than 8 simple rules or Hope and Faith which for some reason is still on air. And than they went and cancelled my other favorite tv show L.I.F.E as we know it becuase the ratings werent that good, well duh they werent that good because they moved the show from its 9:00 time on Thursday to 8:00 on Thursday, how in the world do you expect a slightly new show that not many people are familiar with to compete with fox's the OC (which for some reason is popular) and Nbc's Joey or Cbs's Survivor, I guess that AbC managers are just a litlle too greedy too care.

reply

Hello I think we should not watch 8 simple rules to prove to ABC how it was wrong to replace complete savages w/an hour of 8 simple rules and how they should keep the savages on the air.

reply

8 Simple Rules was cancelled, too.

reply

ha! shame! NOTHING can replace the savages! OR KYLE! yay!!!

I'm a older male - yet even I loved "Complete Savages". When I was a young teen, my parents became guardians for three of my male cousins. Suddenly our house was full of boys. As such, I was able to relate to the rambunctous ways of those kids. I found the show funny and cute. It was easily the best show on Friday night in 2004.

Yet ABC pulled "Savages" fast - while it left disasters like "Hope & Faith" (which is STILL on - I can't believe how horrible this show is, yet it's still on) and "Less Than Perfect" (which is better acted that "Hope" yet is less funny). At least "8 Simple Rules" transformed nicely after John Ritter's death and I found the show enjoyable. That show followed by "Savages" actually had me watching ABC on Fridays (when I was home).

But then ABC quickly cancelled "Savages" and I found myself not watching ABC at all. If "Savages" was pulling down the whole night, I'd understand its quick cancellation. But its numbers were similar to the other shows, all of which had been around longer and received more promotion. It's a shame ABC cancelled some of its better shows last season. I was hoping another network would pick up "Savages", but oh well...
