Why?

I was watching some of the repeats on Sky, and I was wondering why alot of the people in them now have their faces blurred, even though in previous repeats they didn't? One example is when they pull a car for an ANPR flag, and find out one of the passengers is on their wanted list. They bag him, and while he's in lock up, he starts repeatedly tapping on the cell door, while staring down the officer and the camera. The first, second, and possibly third time I saw this (over a period of months, I'm not THAT religious about RW..) his face was shown, but recently it was blurred. The narration continues as if you can see his expression, but you can't......

Was there legislation brought in where they couldn't show this? Or is it that when they are convicted, they can't show the face? I dunno!!!

I'm gonna go build a lampost out of cinnamon buns, that'l buy us some time!

I assume they can only show the ID of the criminals for so long after the incident occurred, probably due to data protection laws.

A good friend of mine got shown being a little silly on the road when he was somewhat younger. They blur his face out in repeats today, but when it originally aired (season 1) the programme didn't do such things. You can even tell it's him from his voice.

It was a small thing, really and he only got a slap on the wrist from the cops, but even today people rib him about it. He *beep* HATES it and can now never live it down.

If you've done your time, that should be the end of it.
