This needs a reboot/continuation

Lost is one of my all-time favorite shows, and I just started rewatching the series for the first time in about 4 or 5 years (this is actually my first time watching the series on Blu-Ray so the picture quality is incredible). I was thinking how the series has seemed to lost mainstream popularity while other similar shows (eg The X-Files, Star Trek, Twin Peaks) have remained on the public conscious through continuing projects, social media posts, new season/movie rumors, etc., but Lost hasn’t had any new projects related to the property since the show ended in 2010. There should be a reboot or new movie or spin-off or something else to keep the show alive in fandom and pop culture.

Lost is one of my all time favourite TV shows as well, I’ve rewatched it from start to finish more than any other show and I think I’ll rewatch it again soon.

I think what I love about Lost is even at the end we still don’t know everything about the island. We know enough but I love how ambiguous a lot of the island’s history remains.

They could for example do a prequel series set in the time where the Egyptians were on the Island (building the statue of Taweret) but I do kind of like that we don’t see any of that. It’s like the film Alien, I loved the mystery of that derelict alien ship the crew find, but then Prometheus just tells you what it is and the answer isn’t as interesting as the fan theories.

Plus with bringing something back there’s always a chance you’ll divide the fan base on what they want. Twin Peaks: The Return was very different to the original series and was more for David Lynch fans than Twin Peaks fans.

I think with Lost it was the characters and the mystery that hooked us, without those two key factors it just wouldn’t be the same and I think it’d be very difficult to replicate with any sort of sequel series. As I’ve said a prequel series could work but again it’ll be a challenge to make it compelling.

"Lost hasn’t had any new projects related to the property since the show ended in 2010"

Because it ended so badly that most former fans were insulted and don't care about it anymore.

Every few years ABC, or Lindeloff/Cuse try float rumours of a sequel/reboot/spinoff as a trial balloon. The response from most people who watched the show is *crickets*.
