Why are you people so UNFORGIVING of Michael?

whenever somebody asks why Michael is not in the flash sideways, people undoubtedly says: "he is stuck in the Island FOREVER"

Why forever, why do you think he can not eventually be free?

Because there is no "now" in The Church.

If Michael was ever going to forgive himself and move on, he would have been there at the Church. His absence says a lot.

Because there is no "now" in The Church.

How do you know that applied to the whole church?

This is getting complicated.

All the graves of planet Earth are about to give birth.

I think that he is in the flash sideways, however not with the others. He's got miles of reconciliation to go through.

Perhaps he takes the journey with Walt & his ex.

Ana Lucia wasn't there either, except for enabling the ensemble. He shot & killed Libby, I'd think Michael is honourable enough not to be where he's not worthy.

The walt epilogue would be confusing if michael/walt were also in the church, that's probably why they left them out.

reply

Because he's black.

You're welcome.

It isn't forever. It's only for as long as it takes him to get over the guilt from killing Libby and Anna Lucia, and sacrificing 4 of his other "friends." However, when he does eventually move on, it won't be with the people who he alienated himself from, specifically, the Losties.

I've always agreed with Michael's fate. While it does seem from the events of Season 2 that his back was against the wall, he could have done something, could have said something, other than killing Ana Lucia (I've always kind of understood that Libby was an accident but still...bang bang, ya know?).

Still and all, he could have said something to Jack, Sayid, Locke. Between the three of them I'm sure they could have attempted to figure something out, given that Michael's son was involved. Hell, maybe they would have done the whole same plan with Sayid on the boat if they had just KNOWN WHAT THEY WERE WALKING INTO...

At the end of the day, the end of Season 2 and start of Season 3 played out the way it did because ultimately, Michael didn't trust Jack and the 815 survivors enough to find a way. And everything he did, shooting Libby and Ana L, all of that is squarely on his shoulders. And because of that he probably has an inability to let go and move on. Or if he did, he apparently was not able to go with the other Losties in the Church.

I don't know if you're aware of this but I've already changed things. I killed Ben Linus.
