Bobby not wanting to meet his dad was a bummer

stupid fool should not have asked his mom so many questions about the man

Or maybe his mother shouldn't have tried to hide the truth from him. She only stuck to her principals and ideals when they were convenient.

Like most people do.

At that point in the show, Bobby was so annoying with the whole father thing. He just kept pressing and pressing. Why couldn't he see that Grace didn't want to talk about it? But then after all of that, he should have gone to see him.

He was a kid who had never known his father and was fed lie after lie about him from his mother who despite everything maintianed an ongoing relationship with him. Grace was an adult that had perspective about the whole issue and Bobby was not. If he wasn't ready to see his father because he couldn't deal with the fact taht he had been lied to his whole life about it and it was more than he could digest then that is his decision and frankly I think he did the right thing.

I actually preferred the way they made Bobby so persistent on the issue. He was an intelligent, young boy. Some people actually want to find out their parentage eventually (ie. adopted children, foster kids, etc). Bobby was a lot more mature than your average kid, so I guess he started searching earlier.

I'm not saying what Grace did was right/wrong. You can see her reason for hiding the truth from Jack and Bobby in three ways: a) she was selfish, b) Juan really didn't want them to know about him, or c) she was trying to protect them. Either way, Bobby found out about his dad and didn't want to meet him anymore:
- unlike Jack, he wasn't even born and so he never really got to meet the guy
- everything he had been told about his father was fallacious

A lot of people seem to think Bobby "took the easy way out," but I really believe what he said to Peter at the end of the series (that he didn't know the guy, and didn't feel like he needed to in a way). I guess finding out about his dad was cathartic enough.
