Any real Batboys watch this show?

If so, I'm just curious... what do you think?

baseball season is just about at its end, so batboys are busy for the moment, and these days i dont think the clubhouses have a consistent batboy. But it would be cool to know if there are any out there that can tell it like it is, with out compromising themselves.

i liked the show, i like baseball and i will miss it over the winter!

Hey I have been a guest batboy for the Baltimore Orioles a couple of times and i think that this show is pretty realistic about as much as it could be because they obviously cant use the language they tend to use in the dugout and there is also alot more talking on the bases then they show another thing that they really cant is capture the electricity in the dugout. overall this is a pretty good show but using past sports shows a a gauge i probably wont last

Matthew McGough, right? (hope I spelled his last name right).:P

Yeah, I know the show was inspired by his story. I could be wrong, but I have never heard of him being one of the producers on this show. Maybe a consultant. Daniel Cerone is the creator. Mel Gibson, Aaron Spelling and a few others have executive producer roles. Where did you hear that Matthew was also a producer? Just curious.

I was a batboy for the toronto blue jays for the 2000 season. i've got a lot of stories, which i turned into a pilot of my own. i'm a screenwriter at the university of southern california and am trying to find a way to get an internship on Clubhouse.
as for how realistic clubhouse is...
conrad dean/ dean cain- has the nice baseball player down pat.
the guy with the 'roids problem- was way over the top. all the jerks i met, just wouldn't say anything. (and this actually happened with the batboy for the red sox)
the bat stretcher and key to the batter's box routine is real. it happened to me and the local paper actually wrote about it the next day. (travis fryman was nice enough to let me know)
overall, as for realism the show almost has it. they are missing a few things like how loose the players are before the game, playing playstation, listening to music, will clark likes to read hunting magazine, curled underneath his locker, etc... and standing with them for the national anthem day in and day out brings a sense of awe Clubhouse doesn't quite bring- yet. Obviously i didn't run into "moral" situations like sumpter is and probably wil be every episode. well, i did have a few... but hopefully you'll be seeing those in future episodes.

incidentally, lloyd's lou is very similar to my clubhouse boss len. hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the great insight on what it's like to be a batboy in a real clubhouse! Good luck on getting the internship on the show - I hope you get it. :)

thanks! i've got a friend at paramount (cbs and paramount have same owners) who is going to do some digging for me. and if you've got any more questions about being a batboy, feel free to ask. by the way, there really is a don't ask dont tell rule in the clubhouse. and also... even though it seemed unrealistic- pete sneaking into the umpires room- i would bet that something similar actually happened. guess we'll have to wait for mcgough's memoirs. hm... maybe i should write my own. lol.

I don't know if you'll see this, but any updates on your work would be great. I still wish this series had been able to find its footing ;)

Nah, it's never too late to ask him what happened with his writing career (see above) and with the pilot he was developing. It sounded fascinating. Some people get an email notification when someone replies to a post, even if it's an old one and sometimes I get responses. It doesn't hurt to try.

did you write the pilot about the minor league team that was submitted to "clubhouse"?

I see.:) Very cool. It's good that he is involved.:D I look forward to reading his book also, when it comes out.
