Is there any way to know what was real and what was embellished ?

The movies always add, fabricate etc. to make a "true" story interesting. Here are a few thoughts -

1) Did the school board really allow filming at the meetings? Did a person really try to escort Marc's mother out of the meeting?

2) Did Marc really quit the legal challenge and then take it up again, once or twice?

3) I found it hard to believe the whole 0school went to court or even most of it, but I could be wrong.

4) Did Marc really get to make that speech in court at the end?

5) Did Ms. Lawrence really exist or is she a composite?

6) Did Marc dye his hair bluer for the oourt appearance?

Update - I just watched about 1/2 the film with the director's comments. He only answered one thing - so much of the commentary was silent or didn't explain (a) did Mark really wear those gold shoes to school? (b) no comment so far about the teacher Ms. Lawrence (c) the testimony at the school board - did his father say almost nothing? What message were they sending with the lesbian who became normal through shock therapy or her nelly husband - at least he could have said it was a composite of people who did speak. No comment in the actual film about how Mark got full consideration when the board decided that same day. But the director stated he thinks they did have the minds already made up before the meeting. (d) It has been a long time since I've been in school, but I'm pretty sure girls would not be showing their belly buttons at Catholic school even now and it probably isn't encouraged at public school either. I don't think I will watch the rest of the commentary since I'm not getting much out of it.
