Nothing like 'Alice in Wonderland'

... for people who've seen that description (f*ing Netflix blurbs! The writers are such jokers, in so many cases!) and keep waiting for the Wonderland part to start. No, it never escapes to there or anywhere. It never gets far from real-life serious grotesquery the whole way through, and the rest of the time it's merely bleakly ugly. Anything like 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' (or something; what I expected), it's not.
