The Tail scene... (Spoilers)

Of all the scenes, the pigtail on the baby scene was the most disturbing for me.

I can understand they're shooting a film, so I can take comfort at the thought that they're all visual effects.

However, what was the up with the tail cutting scene? It looked so REAL, The texture of the skin, the bleeding. Ach! I don't even want to describe it.

Is it really possible for a baby to be born with a tail? Did they find a real tailed baby, or did they achieve it through other means?

I'm baffled.

Or an especially juicy baby, as we saw it--a real little 'porker' he was!

It was an actual pigstail.
Well, not from a living pig of course.
The bought the tail at the butcher and only used it in the closeup, so you cannot see it only has a little piece of skin attached to it.

Personally, violence against children and babies in films really bothers me. This scene did not. If I was that baby, I would be grateful my father did that...It's similar to circumcision in my opinion. A quick pain you could never understand at the time, and will never remember, all for the good of the child. Must better than having costly and lengthy surgery later when you have the emotional pain of actually being aware of what's going on. What bothered me far more was the scene with the little girl at the beginning, that the grossest character of them all was imagining. Don't know his name, so I will call him "Perverted-Pedophile-Harelipped-Fire-Shooting-Penis-Dead-Pig-Humper".
