Club Soda For A Carpet Shartstain?

My great aunt wants to know if club soda is effective on shag carpets to help get out her most recent shart? Unfortunately I think there's a fair amount of prune juice in there as well, which will certainly complicate the issue further.

Wondering if anyone has had experience with club soda on a carpet shartstain? Club soda is all she has on hand.
