small, regional film worth a look

This film is an interesting character study, not much more. But it's based in a specific region of France/Belgium (Wallonie/Le Nord)and for me it captures a lot about the personality of that region. True, there's not a lot going on in the plot, but it's absolutely believable that a woman would travel around to small community cultural centers doing a one-woman comedy that's poetic and thoughtful as well as broadly humorous. If you've only read the English subtitles you miss a lot of the French nuances of this film, because the interplay between what she performs and what happens with the man who follows her around becomes touching, tragic, and poetic. It's absolutely fascinating to watch Yolande Moreau through this film, even though the pacing and plot are slow and minimal.

She's a marvelous actor, and she also has excellent performance in Séraphine. Whe she stands by the seaside, look at her looks and the views.
