Nice Suprise!!!

I taped this on cable the other night not expecting much when I saw it. I was moved by the story although the screenplay was flawed, I still found myself smiling at the end and feeling good.

I wish they would have gotten deeper into the characters than they did, the actors were ready to handle more and could have they were all very good.

Why did that guy keep dropping those potatoes? Was he prejudice because of him being Phillipine?

All in all, enjoyable movie.

7 out of a 10.

The character of Chan is actually Chinese, ethnically, but once you hear him speak, you realize he's obviously at least second generation Chinese-Scot. He speaks perfect English with a Scottish accent - hysterical!

The guy keeps dropping the potatoes because he assumes Chan is an immigrant (never having heard him speak)and is a racist. The guy is just being a jerk. Once Chan speaks up, though, the guy finally realizes he's not an immigrant and proceeds to treat him with respect.

I liked this movie, too. The scenes I liked best were Danny in his pink underwear, Danny driving the runaway boat, his friend and his motivational tapes, and the dinner scene where Joan confronts Frank.

Good flick when you want something light and leaves you with a "feel good" moment.
