'Extreme' horror movies

I can't for the life of me see why people like "extreme" horror movies so much. These movies get way too much praise. I watched MORDUM and was I shocked? You bet your ass. This is one of the most effective horror movies I've ever seen. But just because it's effective, does that make it good or even entertaining for that matter? No. MORDUM was the least fun I've ever had watching a movie. That makes it a failure, at least in my book. The filmmakers might have wanted to disturb people, but just because they accomplished that doesn't by any means make this movie a triumph.

If you want to watch horror movies that push the envelope and still manage to put a smile on your face, rent POULTRYGEIST - NIGHT OF THE CHICKEN DEAD or GUTTERBALLS. That doesn't go without saying that you might like this movie. I certainly didn't. I will admit, it does speak volumes that the filmmakers were able to make so many audiences feel dirty. I'm not saying that people shouldn't be allowed to make movies like this. Even though I am a church-going Christian, I still understand that art is subjective so I'm not going to bitch about how "vile" or "nasty" this movie is because, quite honestly, I didn't expect a movie about two serial killers filming their carnage to be delicate.

To the world you may just be somebody, but to somebody you may just be the world.
