Nothing has been heard from her since the Dumisani fundraiser really. She appeared at an LA film festival a few days later but that's the last anyone has seen or heard of her.

I dont think she looks particularly unhappy, but I do think she's far too thin...in a couple of pics she looks gaunt and almost haunted. I'm quite concerned that she is suffering from an eating disorder, though obviously I dearly hope this is not the case.

reply

I hope not! Please post the link if you can.

reply

i hope she is okay can you please put the link up :( i hope she doesnt have an eating disorder :(

reply

I hope not too! Obviously this is purely speculation on my part (having been there myself) but it is my experience that people are rarely too thin naturally.

Anyway, the pictures arent very big...but you can clearly see that she's much thinner than she used to be...and she has always been tiny.

I remember seeing her on stage in the Sweetest Swing in Baseball and her hip bones were very visible, her collar bones even more so.

Edited to add another link...bigger pic :)

If these pictures are supposed to indicate there's something wrong with GA, then I'll risk saying there's something wrong with your eyes, folks. I saw her in person at the time the SSiB photos were taken. Trust me - from the distance of half a metre she looked perfectly healthy. Thinner maybe (the play must have taken the toll - it required a lot of effort on her part), but radiant and nice.

i hope she is okay but you say she looks healthy so thats good

I'm sure she'll be fine.

I love Gillian too!! DD's also cool :-)

It is always going to be a matter of opinion. What one person thinks is thin, another will think is fine; what one person sees as fine, another will see as fat. In my opinion, bones are not meant to be seen, and Gillian is so tiny that she cannot afford to lose (or gain) a couple of pounds without seeing a visible difference.

From seeing the pictures of her at the Dumisani event in July there definitely isnt an ounce of fat on her. She is incredibly skinny, her clothes hang off her and she doesnt get even a hint of a 'roll' when she sits down or leans forward. Maybe she is healthy, but she *really* shouldnt get any thinner.

It is just as unhealthy to be underweight as it is to be overweight.

reply

Yeah, those pix aren't that bad. She just looks a little tired, but that's understandable since she was doing the play and all.

reply

I don't think that there is something seriously wrong with her. She lost weight, that's true, but at the beginning of the play she looked perfectly healthy and not really thin to me. I think she lost weight for the play or because of it. And it's true that she looks pretty normal if you stand right in front of her... Until she doesn't pass out or something we shouldn't worry. I have the impression that a lot of ppl always think that she is ill or something, if she looks a bit tired or unhappy. It's like this with every celebrity, we should remember that we only see photos, they don't tell you a lot about the person's situation.

reply

Sorry the pics are not online anymore! If I find them again I'll post the link! okay?!

reply

I found some new paparazzi photos from Gillian, and there's definetly something wrong with Gillian. She is so skinny! I think I can't post them here, can I?

reply

you can as long as she's not naked or anything. oh, and you'd have to post the url to the photo because this site doesn't do pix.

I found this one, and I agree she is far too skinny.

*is extremely worried about her*

reply

Hmmm...that doesn't look too good. First off, the stupid paparazzi...it's quite obvious she didn't want the pic.

But, she is a bit skinny, and it kind of confirms my feelings.

Hopefully, it's nothing.

reply

her pants are really low in that pic, lol. ya it does look like she doesnt want he pic taken at all!

btw, does he have a tatoo at the right of her belly button???

"Maybe there's hope" x-files 2

reply

Gillian has a tattoo on the left of her belly button, more on her hip and it's a "P" which stands for Piper :o)

*still thinks she's too skinny*

reply

I agree with you she is far toooo skinny. But apparently Gillian is in psychological treatment. In an older Interview (summer 2004) she says she is in therapy, but she is not going to say why. Hmm, maybe she misses the x-files so much, that she gets sick! *lol*. No, that isn't funny at all, hope she is okay.

reply

She has said many times that she has been in therapy since she was 14, but she has never said what for. So long as she finds it helpful and is doing ok *crosses fingers and hopes*

reply

aw,i didnt know she was in therapy...sad times.

reply

OK, I just need to put my own comments into this thread.

How heavy does this petite 5'2" tall woman have to get, before all you anorexia fearing people will be happy about her condition. The woman is tiny and if she changes her weight +/-5 pounds, it would be noticeable.

She does Yoga, doesn't eat wheat, is a vegetarian and probably is more health conscious then any three of you. When I can see her temples hollowing inward or her breasts disappear, I will start to worry about her. There is a difference between being Fat, Skinny & Trim. Gillian is very trim and that is all, yes you can see some hip bones but you can also see her abs and that is because she works out, not because she isn't eating.

When she is working, it wouldn't take many long shooting days for her to look tired and she has been working on two movies in recent months.

As far as her trips to a therapist, she has said on numerous occasions that she has been using therapy as a way to stay in touch with how she is feeling since she was 14. It helps her work through things and keeps her centered. She has not just started because of some new depression, she goes to therapy the way most people with healthy teeth go to a dentist 2 to 4 times a year.

Give the "She is Too Skinny" stuff a rest.

BB waves to valkyriex. If your cool comment does not convince at least a few people, then I hope the recent (25th Nov) pics of Gillian will:

Waving back to you BB.

This whole thing about her being too skinny is being posted in several boards that relate to Gillian and it is probably the same people starting those threads.

I'm just fed-up with this crap. She is 5'2" so I did some research online, looking around at medical pages. At her height and age, she is perfectly healthy at a weight from 120 lbs all the way down to 100 lbs and there is no way she is under 100 lbs.

Thanks for being a fellow voice of reason in a veritable sea of paranoid ramblings.

Man calm down. Ther's no reason for raising your voice. It was just a question. And just for information. Gillian isn't vegetarian. She started eating meat again.

I'm happy if everything is okay. I didn't start this topic anywhere but here. And I would appreciate it, if you could talk to me in a normal voice. And I'm really fed up by the so-called "Gillian experts" who do not allow other opinions. It was just a simply question, man. And Gillian is a person of public interest. So it is clear, that people discuss about her.

reply

Yes, definitely calm down. You provided proof that she seems to be otherwise healthy, and I appreciate that. The other crap you threw out was unnecessary.

She looks good, and I am SO GLAD, but next time you want to throw your opinion in, do it with maturity.

reply

Doritos and scully-d, valkyriex's post doesn't strike me as crappy or immature. Personally, I find it boring and irritating that people are constantly talking about GA's weight and never seem to be happy about it. But then I realize it might be a poor substitution for talking about her new movies which are still to be seen.

On the other hand, I'm not sure all those "OMG, she's so thin, must be an eating disorder, must be sth wrong with her, must be depression, must be lack of X-F/DD/God knows what" remarks are mature or respectful. So the kind of attitude valkyriex (or me, for that matter) shows has nothing to do with pretending to be a Gillian expert. Don't take it so personally. Just try to remember the difference between an opinion (Gillian is too thin/Gillian is not too thin) and a slightly hysterical assumption that multiplies into wild rumours on many websites.

reply

Oh, I have no problem with what he/she said. Like I said before, I appreciate the information provided. I just didn't care so much for the way it was presented. It just seemed a bit...ignorant to me. I, in no way, took it personally, but that's how I feel. I could be wrong, seeing as this is the internet and we aren't sitting face-to-face. But, I felt it could have been said better.

Like I said, I am glad she's doing well. I did worry about her, not so much her weight until I came here, but those "worries" dissipated awhile ago.

reply

OK, I just want to pop in here one more time, in my own defense.

I was reacting to more then just the post that showed up in this forum. If you look in at GAGC and GAUK and Idealists Haven boards, you will find a similar thread had been initiated in all of them. One moderator even deleted the thread from there board because of the way it was growing. What bothers me, is the way one of these comments morphs into another and another. All based on one initial comment.
The following are quotes taken straight out of this thread, you can see the way these things fuel rumors, as the thread grows, so do Gillian's 'problems'.

"I dont think she looks particularly unhappy, but I do think she's far too thin...in a couple of pics she looks gaunt and almost haunted. I'm quite concerned that she is suffering from an eating disorder, though obviously I dearly hope this is not the case."

"I found some new paparazzi photos from Gillian, and there's definetly something wrong with Gillian. She is so skinny!"

"I agree with you she is far toooo skinny. But apparently Gillian is in psychological treatment. In an older Interview (summer 2004) she says she is in therapy, but she is not going to say why."

I also ask you to find a point in my post where I was ignorant? Upset possibly, but I don't agree with ignorant. In my own defense, I was only pointing out that there had been numerous opinions posted that I disagreed with and instead of just saying that "they were wrong, cause I say so". I simply gave as many verifiable facts as I could to support my side. Oh, btw, many vegetarians eat some small amounts of chicken, turkey, fish or pork.

Okay, you have the right to be "upset" with comments made on other boards, but don't come in here venting about things that have not been said on this particular board. If you care to comment on the things that have been said on this board, feel free.

I can understand why you'd be "upset" about what everyone is saying, but there are better ways to get your feelings across. I found your way to be a bit...ignorant. I can't describe it any other way. We can agree to disagree on that fact.

The info that you provided, I very much appreciate such as the pictures and all.

I don't feel I can explain it any better.

Did you bother reading my previous post? All of those quotes DID come from this thread on this board.

If you meant that the way I posted, seemed 'arrogant', I might agree with your right to feel that way and I would even apologize to you if my post came off that way to you.

But to tell me that I sound 'ignorant' then thank me for the info I posted seems rather odd to me. I did try to state things that are known to be factual and can be confirmed by reading earlier interviews, whereas the comments that I am bothered by, are all, personal opinions with no data or background to support them. They said that Gillian is far too skinny, yet present no medical reason to support their position that her weight is too low.

As far as the one poster that claims that if you can see hip bones you're "far too skinny!" is IMHO, nuts. I am 5'8" and weigh over 200 lbs right now, and you can still see MY hip bones! (I really need to lose a good twenty pounds before snowboarding season really kicks in, or my knees are going to take a real beating.)

"Arrogant" seems more the appropriate word. I was thanking you for the information you offered, not the way you offered it. I do appreciate when people have facts to back up "debates" (if this is what we're having), and I do appreciate the way you're "defending yourself," but I just didn't like your first post. I didn't like how you presented your info.

If we spent all of our time getting "upset" about what people say over the internet...let's just say we shouldn't waste our time online if things get to us like that.

I honestly don't see the point in saying the same things over again, so like I said before, let's agree to disagree and move on.

Now, I say we go run for President and see who wins...

but here is an article that shows she's not starving herself

From the Belfast Telegraph
June 18, 2004

By Maureen Coleman

A 'mighty' time in town

It's good to see a woman once voted the sexiest in the world has a healthy appetite.

While many A-list actresses opt for a diet of cigarettes and lettuce leaves, Gillian Anderson keeps her figure trim with a no-nonsense approach to food.

The former X-Files star, in Belfast to film the movie The Mighty Celt, was spotted at Ta Tu on the Lisburn Road with writer and director Pearse Elliott.

Gillian tucked into crispy pork and dumplings, followed by pan-fried medallions of pork with crushed beans, grilled courgette and a red onion and red wine jus. The meal was washed down with a bottle of Fleurie and a G and T.

Gillian was pleasant and friendly as she chatted to staff and punters in the bar.

And if Pearse Elliott looked pleased with himself, he has every right to be. Not only has he landed the lovely Gillian for a role in his Belfast-based movie, but Robert Carlyle, star of Trainspotting and The Full Monty, is also onboard and was spotted in Ta Tu as well.

Did you see the pics from BIFA? And do you still think that Gillian looks great and beautiful?

reply

I saw a lot of BIFA 2004 pics. GA looks great in some and not so great in others. So what's new?

reply

I think this subject should be dropped. She's gorgeous no matter what.

just my opinion...

reply

"Oh, btw, many vegetarians eat some small amounts of chicken, turkey, fish or pork."

Hey, a *real* vegetarian eats NO meat. That's a flexitarian, or someone who basically doesn't eat much meat, but really doesn't care either way. Sorry, a pet peeve of mine... it pisses me off when people call themselves vegetarian when they clearly aren't.

reply

Holy Crap! I didn't know there was this many Gillian Anderson fans still around.

She's probably not been seen much recently because shes just being quiet. I doubt thats anything to be worried about.

reply

I think that people forget that she made a whole lotta money off of the X-Files, so she can be really choosy about the roles that she takes on. She has likely stayed out of the spotlight (and moved back to the UK to boot) to avoid the kind of gossipy talk (eg. weight issues) that plague many an american actor´s career and to give Piper a more normal environment in which to grow up. She´s also likely giving herself some distance from the X-Files so that she doesn´t get typecast, and has also been trying to get back in touch with her roots on the stage. She is first and foremost an actor, and judging by her great performance in the House of Mirth, I think she´s adopted the perfect strategy to ensure that she will have a long career ahead of her.

By the way, my dream movie would have her, Julianne moore, and Laura Linney in the same film. I´d kill to see them act together

reply

What woman doesn't try to lose weight to look good in her WEDDING DRESS! Yep, evidently Gillian got hitched over the holidays to documentary filmmaker (and longtime beau) Julian Ozanne. Fox news story here: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,144791,00.html

Congrats!
