greyhounds- bred to hunt

for those who dont know about the greyhound, emma has written the following article: http://tiagreyhounds.org.uk/greyhoundarticle.pdf for dogs today.

greyhounds are the most popular breeds with dog racers, and as we all know dog racing is a cruel sport similar to dogfighting, and is not fluffy like the show or agility type sports, and the cruelty comes from the running itself, and the corruptness of the gambling has nothing to do with it.

greyhond were breed to kill small animals. they were breed to run very fast and catch their prey to rip it to shreads, no animal apart from the cheetah can escape the greyhounds snarling teeth comming towards them at 40mph. she had to treat an injured dog who died from its wound later when it was mualed by vicious greyhounds, who also turned on their owner, and lacerated his arm. two weeks before that two seperate dogs were attacks by this killer breed, one of whom required lengthy surgery. and there have been manny other cases of this happening. greyhounds still to this day are one of the most commenst breeds to be invloved with the killing of a rabbit or a squirel, or even cats and dogs. most dog-dog agression is due to domminance, but greyhound simply see other dogs as prey.

as you can see greyounds seem to have a built in instinct to attack small animals, so this obviously means they are a threat to our children, and considering hunting mammals with dogs is illegal now, isnt it time we removed this dangerous animal from our streets.

as greyhound are one of the most commenest types of breeds to be abused, they should be banned, as this will make the abusers stop all abuse autmoaticly

all greyhound racers abuse their dogs, and dump them when they are not fast enough, or too old. some of these get rescued, but many of these rescued dogs thank their new owner by killing inocent animals when their muderous instincts kick in, there are some that a do not, but with these walking health risks, is it worth the risk?

and this is not some nutter, it is a tv vet who wrothe the article so she must know what shees talking about. and your dog wouldnt post false info ever.

greyhound are so dangerous that they are ristricted and banned in manny parts of the world eg:

Absolute crap. Get your facts right before you write 'articles' like this.

My two greyhounds have lived with kids, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and love people. They love all breeds of dogs and play with them happily. Neither of my dogs have EVER shown any agression to anything.

It's idiots like you who make people think a breed are dangerous. Lets ban stupid people like you before breeds :)

I have a Greyhound and a Lurcher (Greyhound x Collie)and can honestly say that most of what that 'professional' wrote is rubbish. Complete and utter rubbish! My Greyhound is as sweet as toffee and gets on with most dogs that she meets. She is super with people. My Lurcher is also wonderful with people. My cousin said he has a lovely soul. They both have prey/chase drives (most dogs do) when it comes to small furries like cats, squirrels and rabbits. However, they know their own species and their prey drives do NOT kick in when it comes to small dogs. In fact some of the dogs my Lurcher gets on best with are small and furry Westies!

Greyhounds are typically lazy dogs who would love to spend the day lounging around the house. Mine sometimes has to be dragged off the sofa!

I will also say that my Greyhound did not come from an abusive owner. She came from one of the more responsible ones who handed her over to be rehomed.

As for vets. I have heard one say that Greyhounds won't chase cats! Vets are quite often clueless when it comes to behaviour. They are primarily trained in diagnosing and treating physical ailments. They are also uneducated about nutrition. They will often peddle really crappy food in return for profit.
