Superb film that flopped

If the gross figures are true, I guess we'll never see the 3rd part.
Guess American audiences simply didn't appreciate what an inventive film this was.

I feel the 2 Watch films were revolutionary in the use of spec efx and a look far more interesting that glossy American sci fi films.... the characters as well, were delightful , far more memorable than typical
American films.....
Perhaps art house films simply don't work for the masses ..... though a few HAVE captured the mass audience.

I can understand if Timur is more interested in new , well financed projects.... and AM thankful for his contribution to the sci genre m with these 2.

Wanted was fun, but a far cry from the daring look & characterization of Watch.

Tarkovsky was a genius but Timur brought Russian sci-fi into the 21st century,

Oddly the subtitles didn't bother me ... but I'd seen it in the theater previously, and knew the story well
enough.... (I love hearing a native language soundtrack, in any language.)

Are you kidding me? The movie was made on a 4 million dollar budget and saw a nearly 40 million dollar return. How is that at all a flop? Even if it didn't make millions in America it still made a great deal of money in Russia, and with Bekmambetov's name getting bigger because of Wanted and the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter movie getting another one made in Russia would be cake.

Well I just went by IMDB Gross figures. I'm certainly delighted if it did that well ...financially.

Blade Runner did dismally initially as I'd read.

Nontheless I loved the style of both episodes... and regret his Russian aesthetic has been abandoned , as it made those genuine classics in my book.

veras gunn is right. Just because it didn't make money in the USA, doesn't mean it flopped. Based on its box office performance in other parts of the world it was in fact a huge hit.🐭
