Originally intended to be Christopher Belmont

Supposedly the team working on this game was to be working on the same basic story that was featured in Castlevania: The Adventure (AKA Dracula Densetsu), Christopher Belmont vs. Dracula 100 years before Simon. According to the head of IGA there the was some kind of miscommunication, hence the name was changed to Ralph (Trevor in the West) C. (as in Christopher) Belmont, b/c he was created and always intended to be Christopher.

IGA's fix was to simply fudge the dates on the timeline, but I wonder if the intention was that CVA and DC were both actually covering the same stories in 2 completely different games? If so, Belmont's Revenge would be the sequel to Castlevania III!
