Which version should I buy?

Hello, everyone, as far as I'm aware there are two versions/releases of the series;

one from Geneon (the Lenticular Set)

Basically my questions are these:

* Which one is better and why?
* I've read that the subtitles to the Geneon-release could have been better - if anything, is it still worth a buy (and how are they "bad"?)
* The geneon-version has (according to what I've read) anamorphic widescreen, instead of the madman-Standard 4:3 - which one do you reckon is the better one
* are there any general difference between the releases?

Well I'm not sure about either version cause either way I think you're getting a great anime. But apparently one of the dubs have screwed up the subtitling somewhat, especially at the very end making the plot even more convoluted than before. But that's all I know.

Hey. I own the one from Geneon, and nothing seems screwed up to me. I'd bet it's the other one, considering Geneon is a very reliable company, and I have many of their releases. I hope that helps.

i see that this thread was posted in january. uufot, how did you like the series?

I own the Madman release. Madman are a very reputable company here in Australia... I mean, they are the only distibutors of anime in the whole country so they have to be. Those DVDs would be region 4. I didn't have any problems with understanding anything with its subtitles, I think. A few of the names' translations seem out of date (Lux is called Lukuss, eg) but that's only a minor problem... then again I'm not sure what else may be wrong that could be a major translation issue.

Oh thats interesting - Lux is a measurement of illumination. That makes a lot more sense now for a city name. I wonder what else I missed?

I picked up on that too. :) Lux = lucis, light. After seeing the whole series three times now, I still find new meanings and connotations in each viewing.

the geneon version is also widescreen.
