Gantz and Texhnolyze

I know people will be thinking by the subject what do these titles have to do with each other. I recently made a thread asking if there were any anime with the same kind of genre/energy as Gantz, someone replied, thankyou to that reply, to give Texhnolyze a go, anyone who has seen both of these anime ? I loved Gantz will I like Texhnolyze.

Thankyou for your time

Since i am the only one who's going to answer you ( no one comes to this forum except me)let me say to you i did not see Gantz (sorry!) but their plot doesn't in any way sound similar. The only thing that sound similar is the ball. In texhnolyze there is a disco ball around a gate of cubes that blowing up those who trying to enter. So will you like it? the only way to know is to try it! Some people get bored because of the slowness of this anime and abandon it in the middle (or in the beginning!) but if you have patience for the slowness and the atmoshpere i believe that you will be greatly rewarded as the series goes on. Because what comes in the second part of the series is nothing compared to it's first part.

Thanks for the reply, have been waiting ages for some info you rule NRTOOD

You'll like Gantz a lot more than you liked texhnolyze. Gantz has a lot more action from ep to ep, you get the smart mouth comments and inner thought processes of the characters as well, and it has a lot more of the dark humor. Also a chick who can't keep her clothes on. you've probably watched it by now but they now have it in english dub and i found it funny in a different way when it was in english, the plot was the same but the dialogue had kind of a different feel to it. though the ending is like most anime unsettling and leaves you wanting more. 26 eps in all

reply

Yeah, I saw them both. Texhnolyze is nothng like gants sure it has some action moments but it is entirely a slow paced anime. It contains philosophic topics and tells the story indirectly. But it does not make it bad. I enjoed Texhnolyze more than Gantz. It is more mature and mysterious, gantz had its moments too but these two animes are very distant to each other in lot of aspects.

Happy endings are just stories that haven't finished yet

I liked Texhnolyze better than Gantz as well.
Gantz is good, but I think that a bit overpacked with gore, my favourite bits were those, there tits and rivers of blood and internal organs and limbs flying across were off the screen. There is a fair amount of psychology in Gantz, which makes it more than just 'die die die', mindless anime.
Texhnolyze is pretty violent as well, but there seems to be more sense to it, you can relate to heroes, the story is deeper, captivating, intriguing. I loved it.

The premise of Gantz was interesting but the over abundance of sex, nudity and gorey violence was ridiculous and made it seem pretty immature. Texhnolyze on the otherhand has some extreme content but it's done with purpose and not shoved in your face. It's there to move the story forward, to make a point or to illustrate a character and their motivations. I've read the Gantz manga and the Texhnolyze anime is far superior.

reply

Tintinrulz did you see the hidden episodes (19,20)? I am asking because some dvd's don't have them and they waren't shown on tv either.

reply

Texhnolyze only has a total of 20 episodes, so 19 and 20 would be the final two. It's been several years since I last watched the series. I watched it to the end (on DVD) but I don't remember anything about there being hidden episodes. Sorry I can't help.

EDIT: It seems you're right. There are 22 episodes in total. I haven't seen the hidden episodes. Does anyone know where I can find them?

reply

You can find them in bitorrent. its episode 19 -20. You sure had missed alot because these two episodes are the surprise of the series. In these two episodes ichise the doctor and sakimura going to the upperworld and discover the truth about him. The upperworld is completely different in it's look to the underworld.

go to www.isohunt.com and search texhnolyze.

reply

Weird. So you're saying they didn't show the whole series on TV? That's just stupid. Sounds interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

Okay, I bought the series on DVD and it seems to have all 22 episodes. Once I saw episodes 19 and 20, they really helped me to better understand the characters and story. Thanks for the information.

Glad to talk to you again titinrulz, So how was it please tell, i am cerious to know!

I am wayyy too late for this thread but i think Gantz and texhnolyze don't have similar stories but do have a similar way of portraying human nature. The entire cast of Gantz (except ayumu and most of the characters at the end of the anime and a lot more in the manga) are ass holes. All of them are *beep* despicable people. The main character is a pervy, selfish ass hole but grows into a better person as the series progresses (less so the anime but still effective) Sure people will say its immature because of the tits and explosions but IMO they are used mostly in a useful way; not so much the fanservice but some of the nude scenes, most of them in the manga) are dealt with in a mature fashion and not in a "oh look her tits are out!!! oh look they're having sex" just for the sake of pandering. On the surface it can look like mindless action ( which in some aspects it is) but there is a deeper message/meaning to the series than people give it credit for.

reply

Gantz was ok at best, filled with unnecessary fanservice and it didn't have an ending. Texhnolyze is a very difficult show to get into - due to it's pacing and the way the dialog is constructed, especially during the first 7 or so episodes, but it is also a masterpiece that will take several viewings to completely understand.
