I need a spoiler on the last episode

If you'd watched it, what's the story on that episode and I didn't watched it on the TV twice.

To Martians beware, America will [totally] invade your planet soon.

I see everyone just says this is like 'the matrix'

there are some similarities but its similar to many other stories in other places as well

you know the matrix is not even close to being the first to ever have the idea of people living in a contained environment and not realizing it.

also see logan's run, the starlost, ergo proxy. (just a few off the top of my head)

besides Scrapped Princess has a lot more in common with Dark City (1998) then the matrix. they arent in a VR environment.. they are in an encapsulated world. there happens to be an advanced system in place keeping the area running within certain parameters. the culling of the herd 90% is right out of the matrix though... unless you also want to argue that in logan's run and soylent green and others- that they were doing the same thing- just in slow motion.

the peacemakers physically controling people is right out the matrix though. but that was also in dark city.

thats all just off the top of my head. if anything i would say Scrapped Princess has the most in common with Arthur C. Clarke's 'The City and the Stars (1956)' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_City_and_the_Stars
(which is an awesome book by the way)

The entire premise of Scrapped Princess also adhere's to Clarke's 3rd law http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarke%27s_three_laws

obviously, i like this kind of story and have sought them out.. so i love scrapped princess. imagine my joy when i was watching it as a simple fantasy adventure and then the BUGs showed up :)

there have also been games (both traditional and video games) that have used this concept as well as comics.

the matrix is just the 'popular' one.

ironically when matrix came out and everyone was flipping out on 'how amazing' it was i saw it and thought it was good but it wasnt the end-all be-all everyone else thought it was.
then the sequels came out.. and i rented them almost a year after they came out and watched it and then *I* flipped out and thought it was a really great ending- not cliched hollywood claptrap.. but everyone else was 'meh' about the trilogy lol! i pre-ordered the ultimate matrix collection when it was first advertized and have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of it.

so i do like the matrix as well- just saying- its by no means 'the first' or revolutionally in any way except for the special effects.. they were first in many places in that respect.

hope my post was at least somewhat helpful or interesting to those who like the themes presented in Scrapped Princess
