Best anime ever made, in my opinion

Compared to all other animes I've seen this is the best. The characters are all so different and wonderfully made that you actually create some kind of bond with them as you watch the anime. The storyline is unique and the end is so warm and good, it makes you surpass all sad things which had occured to the characters throughout the series. This anime must probably have the best ending ever written. To all anime fans, this is my solemn recommendation. Perhaps you will like it as much as I did. If not, then it's clearly a question of taste. But in no way it can change the fact that the story and the dialogues are unique. Please, do reply. It's so sad to see so few topics on this forum.

It's a very good anime, with very good characters and a solid story but I wouldn't say it's the best anime ever, of course that is my opinion.

Studio Bones has made better.

I have this series and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I thought it was really sad hearing the hurt in Pacifica's voice when she discovers her aunt betrayed her. I need to watch the later episodes again, every time I try to do a marathon I stop at the second disc. I think it's a nice show of despair in the times when Pacifica is alone and afraid. It really make you sympathize with her. overall, it's a powerful piece, but not the best piece of anime.

It is one of the few stories to mix sci fi and fantasy effectively.

so many keep saying 'not the best ever' so can you list some others you think ARE BETTER then Scrapped Princess? hopefully not ones everyone always mentions.. i just want to find more good anime!

I really really enjoyed Scrapped Princess

I would have considered Jyu-Oh-Sei one of the very best ever except in the last 20 minutes a computer says one sentence and believe it or not I could not believe a handful of words could take something so brilliant and turn it into utter crap (for me).

any year/ series/ ova/ movie all is acceptable :)

if its better then Scrapped Princess it will be amazing.

Claymore is one season short of being the best anime I've ever seen.

I enjoyed Scrapped Princess, but I felt that *SPOILER* when Pacifica lost her memory for a bit, it seemed to stop the show dead. Don't misunderstand, some of this show was amazing, but that's a black mark against this show IMO. *SPOILER ENDS*

On another note, the scene in which the characters are eating lobster and discussing their distaste for the Church of Mauser is one of the best scenes in any anime.

I know this is a post from some time ago, but here are some great animes that you haven't mentioned. Each of them great in it's own way.

Baccano! - cause it's style and loads of cool characters
Black Lagoon - awesome action and probably the greatest heroine in all of anime
Clannad - if you want to cry a bit (and I mean literal tears, not just a feeling of sadness)
Ghost in the Shell - science fiction, though not better than ergo proxy IMO
Monster - intrigue and one of the best villains in anime
Serial Experiments Lain - if you like yourself some good mindscrew
Spice and Wolf - an original fantasy tale which focuses on... economics
Steins Gate - great story about time travel and one of my favorit anime heroes
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - no complicated plot, hidden messages or symbolism, just pure enjoyment

Hope you find something for your liking.

it's one of the best. The story is amazing, the character designs are superb (CZ is extremely awesome!), the casts are great (Fumiko Orikasa as Pasifica is beyond awesome), the music is wonderful.

In my opinion, Rurouni Kenshin is still the best anime ever and the OVA, Tsuiokuhen (1999) is the best animation ever created.

You should check Gunslinger Girl, Elfen Lied, Haibane Renmei, and Kamichu! those imo have the same quality with Scrapped Princess
