WTF was with that finale?

Lol I loved this show but that finale (ep 21) was really odd! I'm guessing they definetly knew they wouldn't be returning for another season right? Everything seems so final that it would make sense, but why did they end on such a cliffhanger?

I'm not complaining, I thought it was cool but it just didn't make sense in killing off Jason. If they wanted to end on a shock why not kill Alex? God knows she had enough enemies ready and willing to do it. Or if they really wanted to kill of a main character why not kill of Jason and Nicole. At least then they both would be dead, instead of having Nicole getting such a lousey ending.

Just my thoughts, loved the show, sad to finish it.
