Started watching only for Blythe Danner!

… And then, I was severely disappointed! Because during the first 20 minutes of the first episode of the show, a guy commits suicide by putting a gun in his mouth, and we see literally the back of his head explode with client and everything splatters across the picture frame, blah blah blah!

I let the episode play for a couple of minutes more until finally Blythe Danner's character appears. But at that point, it was not even worth finishing the episode.

Any series that starts off in such a grotesque way can't possibly get better later on. And even if it does get better, any series that starts off in such a grotesque way is no series I can be a fan of. And I really wanted to love this show. After all, I love Damages, with Glenn Close. And that show is rated MA for mature audiences only – and there's plenty of blood in the show, but is not nearly that graphic. I guess one could say it is done in more of the film noir, old-fashioned way. This was straight up gore. Very disappointing start to what could have been a new favorite of mine.

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

Wow. Well. The suicide was the catalyst for the entire show. I think it NEEDED to be as gruesome as possible to push Huff into his major mid-life crisis.

The suicide not only makes him re-evaluate his marriage and self worth for losing this kid, but he sees his son through new eyes, he starts a different relationship with his mother and friends and even loses his grip on reality.

Give Huff a shot.
No pun intended.

I agree. The graphic nature of the suicide was necessary. The character Huff AND the audience needed that catalyst.
