Why make The Comedian so old as a Minuteman?

In the comic, he's a teenager when he attempts to rape Sally.

In the film, he's a full-grown adult.

Why the change? It made it seem like he barely aged during all flashbacks.

What difference does it make? They establish he's well beyond peak, human power. I simply took it that he aged slower than regular humans.

I think it was just to use a single actor, for consistency. It might be confusing that the crime busters were all new versions of the Minutemen...people might not realize it's the same character. They might think he is comedian 2.

Also JDM almost declined the role to begin with, because he thought it was small. If they took away the flash back scenes he might have declined after all.

reply

That's a good question. Maybe they thought it was controversial enough to have such a graphic scene of sexual violence that it would push people over the edge if two teenage actors were doing the scene.

reply

He wasn't a teenager at the time of the assault. He was about 21 or 22. Certainly an adult.

reply

Yes, I never saw him as a teen.

Tall people look old with a beard or a mustache.
