BEST RIDE IN ORLANDO....PERIOD

This ride rocks! Every January, I do this ride at least 20 times in the single riders line.

Heck yes!! Best ride ever!

um a ride that lasts for 15 seconds shouldn't be considered the "best ride in orlando". You have heard of the Hulk right? its only a 5 minute walk away

*sigh* Are you one of those people that think a ride is only good if there's maximum thrills & speed involved? I believe the entire Mummy ride lasts longer than the Hulk. Or do you consider just the roller coaster portion to be the actual ride? The roller coaster portion may last 15 seconds, but the whole ride lasts way longer than that. I do love the Hulk, but the Mummy is just so much better because it has awesome effects and it's indoors & in the dark. And the line is way more entertaining. I can't stand the line for the Hulk. Sooooooo boring. The Hulk is great & all, but it's a very smooth ride. You can see exactly what's coming up. But with the Mummy, there's sound effects, music, and flashing lights that make you think you're going way faster than you are. Plus, since it's in the dark, you have no idea what's coming. So you never know when you're gonna make a sudden turn or drop. It's so intense & awesome! The Hulk is just your average coaster to me.

I agree with this post - I just went on it and its described perfectly above. You just don't know what is coming - quality over quantity regarding time! There were people in front of us turning away as you went through the dark maze leading up to the rollercoaster - scared because of the atmosphere.

Unlike so many movies that are predictable I went in preparing myself, but still found it fantastic and creative.

reply

the dark maze? lol, what is the dark maze? I was there earlier this month ,and all I remember is a line in what looked like a temple, with this box in the middle u could put your hand on and mess with the lights?

reply

I don't have any prejudgments about a ride, but when the "ride" part only last 15 seconds, its not worth a 45 minute wait. And no, I don't count the begining part of the ride, that would be like calling the movies before earthquake part of the ride. A roller coaster starts when the coaster starts. Just my opinion though.

No no no. The beginning part is TOTALLY part of the ride itself. The Mummy isn't just a roller coaster. It's so much more! That's why I love it. A ride can be more than a roller coaster.

well your welcome to your opinion, and I am welcome to mine I guess

reply

There is more to a ride than just a roller coaster - how the ride draws you in - the set design was fantastic.

The maze I was refering to was not really a maze, but the route you were forced to take as you approach the coaster. Didn't want to confuse anyone.

i know its the best i went on last week and theres like no wait

Are you serious? That's weird. Usually when I'm there, the line is always at least 45 minutes.

reply

i agree w/u. Luckily when I went, I had the flash pass or somthing, so i only had 2do a 5min wait. That 45min wait was nothing. When I went there was an 1hr & half wait. If i didnt have that pass, i wouldv'e been soo screwed.

reply

Spiderman dude. But the mummy is great.

reply

Yea, Spiderman does rock hard.

Only Hugh can prevent florist friars.

reply

The line's wait depends on when you go. If you go during an event like Mardi Gras, then there's more thrill seeking teens and the line gets huge! It'll say like 100 minutes but it'll really only be an hour. Plus, it's fun waiting in that ride's line! If you go during a normal weekend then the line is way shorter and u can usually walk right on. I love this ride though! It's freakin' AWESOME! I'm going to be an Egyptologist(or ancient Greek) when I grow up and this ride makes it fun. Yes I know I won't get chased by mummies and all but there are curses and all in Egypt's history and I find it all fascinating! All the writing on the wall is different ancient egyptian curses. They did a good job there. Man I love this ride!

I would pick The Phantom over Raoul anyday!

All the coaster sections added 2gether equal 45 secs (I counted). This isnt really a coaster but a hybrid. A coaster/dark ride. It is a great ride though and 1 of my favs.

I don't think it's the BEST ride in Orlando but it's definitely close. Sure, Disney rides can't really hold a candle to it but we'll just see how the new Animal Kingdom coaster turns out. I would say that the only contenders against it for best ride in Orlando now would be The Hulk, Dr. Doom's Fear Fall & Dueling Dragons over at Islands of Adventure. It's so cool to live in Orlando!

I loved the Mummy! I was soooo excited to ride it. I smiled the whole time. With whoever said the Hulk was the best ride, I gotta disagree. Besides the blasting off part, which the Mummy does as well, its just a plain old coaster. Nothing to special to me and Im a coaster fanatic. Heres a sort of list:

The Mummy / Spiderman (They're both so good)
MIB
Shrek
The Hulk
Back to the Future
Dueling Dragons

I personally liked Universal Studios better because there is so much more to do there involving movies and shows. I cant wait to go back in November for my birthday though.

Has anybody been to Downtown Disney? I was there for a little bit before my group (I went with my high school band) saw Cirque de Soleil. Is there a lot of stuff down there?

ITS SO MY FAVE RIDE!!! I went to univesal saturday for the 2nd time

i've been on the mummy before saturday but it's definatly my fave

we had the express passes so we went on it a couple times

brenden fraser said lyk "hey ur back i hope u enjoyed the ride i wood have enjoyed this interview if i wood have gotten my coffee"

the part when the bugs or spiders or watever come out, u come to a complete stop which kinda made u winded

when u got mist on u it was kinda gross it made me feel dirty

the spiderman was horrible i never did lyk it and i woodnt have gone on it but my friend wanted to so i did... it stopped and broke down 4 a while and it jerked u around a lot-- my friend doesnt lyk it now

last time i went i liked universal a lot more--- it seemed lyk there were less things to do--- some of the rides were to jerky

i actually thought it was quite long 4 a roller coaster-- i thought it was long enough

Ugh... I was so looking forward to this ride. After not having visited Universal Studios in about 14 years, I was eager to get on the rides. The Mummy is easily the biggest dissapointment for me in amusement park history. Even worse than that piece of crap Warner Brothers park in Germany.

reply

Aw, I'm sorry ya didn't like it. I, on the other hand, love it w/ every fiber of my being.

Don't argue with stupid people, they bring you down their level, then beat you with experience!

I just got back from Orlando on Friday and though i would agree that The Mummy is good, it is not quite as good as Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom.

That said i think the best ride from all the parks is SheiKra in Busch Gardens. It is so much better then Oblivion at Alton towers in the UK and better then any other ride in Orlando.

I am also a big fan of Journey to Atlantis as Sea World.

I agree, this is the best roller coaster ive ever been on. Besides superman ride of steel in six flags new england.

This ride OWNS Orlando.

After riding this, The Hulk was a giant disappoinment!
Duelling Dragons are awesome too, especially if you're on one of the edges.

reply

Yeah, this ride is quite enjoyable. Wish it was a bit longer tho... Still love it!

reply

I'm such a loser that I went and was about to go on the line because I LOVEEE both mummy movies, not so much the third, I loved the charcter Evie, but yeah and then I got scared. I'm not one to get on big rides, I might go on maybe next time I go down to Orlando, btu tell me since all of you have been on, is it bad? like really scary falls? I don't really go on many rides and i was scared.
