Is it really that awful ?

Of course it's a great movie. Btw, it was never meant to be Titanic and for one, there were great ocean movies wayyy before Titanic. The original Poseidon comes to mind.

What I like about the new Poseidon is how incredibly intense that movie is. I saw it in the theater three times with different people each time, and let me tell ya, they were ALL quite impressed. They all reacted in the same way and they applauded the movie for its intensity an fast pace.

Later on I bought the two-disc Special Edition DVD and I'm glad I own the movie. Sure, it was a box office flop but that doesn't mean it's not an effective movie. It certainly is!

Yes , maybe what makes its box office failure is its realseing time . Earlier or later will be great . But anyway , it's a great masterpiece . But how sad that the director are almost retired after this !

Yeah, I know. I'm a huge fan of Petersen and unfortunately it's true that Poseidon's performance at the box office hurt his career. He said it himself during a German interview a few years back.

Still, I'm sure it was not a death blow. A lot of other directors have suffered major flops, but they were able to keep on working. I think Petersen simply thought that it was time to retire.

He's not like Ridley Scott. Scott is 79 and he's still directing movies like crazy. He's incredibly productive.
