Wow, people on this board are very mean!

After reading many of the threads on this board, it's obvious that it wasn't a popular movie. I just find it funny that those who hated it so much believe that their opinion is the right one and the only one. Why is it that if someone didn't like this movie that makes them stupid and/or incompetent? I know for a fact that I'm one of few who thinks the Princess Bride is the worst movie ever, but I'm certainly not about to criticize or degrade someone who loves it. Give me a break people! Everyone is entitled to their opinion...don't take it so personally!

On a lighter note, I happen to love Poseidon and own it on dvd. I felt it was action packed, I loved most of the characters, and found myself wondering "what would I do in that situation" several times. I am also a fan of The Poseidon Adventure, and own that on dvd as well. When I saw Poseidon in the theater for the first time, I was trying to compare the two, but they are very different in many ways and you almost CAN'T compare them. They're each good (or not so good) in their own respective ways. Anyone else out there like Poseidon as I do? If not, no biggie!! :)

What did you expect?

Maybe he expected people not to be dickheads.

Maybe the poster has never been on imdb before. Almost all the movie discussions on this site are "it sucks" or "it's great".

I see very few threads on this subject. But on the topic I really thought this remake was god awful. Bad acting and very central on special effects. I rolled my eyes throughout the whole thing.

I couldn't agree more I loved it. I saw it in theaters and I was on the edge of my seat. I don't see what peoples problem was. The acting was solid, the special effects were fantastic, the plot was riveting and there was even a great scene that, had emotional grit. I loved.the original as a kid and I enjoyed the remake more.

If you liked it then you are more tolerant of PITIFUL WOMEN than most people are because this movie was filled with the most useless group of female characters in the history of cinema. Not one woman ever did squat but scream, yell and whimper. No one cares to hear you continue talking about who you "LOVE" in a sinking ship. Contribute and stopped having to be pulled along you morons.

Wow OP, you must be new to the Internet! You come off very idealistic.

I think the people who liked it are the younger generation and have not seen the original.
I liked the original better myself. It brought a sense of desperation of what they were experiencing, and characters you cared about. The remake is void of compassion for our trapped passengers and I honestly was praying for a certain few to drown quickly. There are too many reboots that seem to butcher the classics, heavy on the CGI and not enough invested into the characters.

Just watched PA and P... and I'm nearly 50, hardly part of the younger generation. The 70s yielded something of a campy Love Boat atmosphere, while the later revealed an up to date entry, filled with quite realistic nail biting and frightening moments. These were different films of the same subject. I'm happy with Peterson's decisions not to simply remake (Psycho) but to nearly completely recraft the storyline. It's a sorely underrated film.

Watching the DVD right now. I like it. Very tense, lots of dramatic "tight spots" the actors get into - especially climbing up the rapidly flooding air shaft while the little boy is attempting to open the grate.

The "mean people" are the reason IMDb owners are discontinuing the boards. I guess they would rather discontinue the boards and be lazy than to take a stand and do something as Twitter, Youtube and Facebook does. These other social sites seem to be able to manage people who post bad comments, so IMDb should be able to do this, but it seems they are unwilling to. It seems they do not care about all the time and effort responsible subscribers have spend on this and other boards. Without such boards, this is no more than a site to see information about a movie or tv show. Other sites are available for that.
