Just pop the trunk by the driver's seat!

My wife and I watched this movie today on the Comedy Channel and enjoyed its unusual humor, not to mention Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond) and Kevin James (King of Queens), the latter two shows which we staunchly watch every weeknight, being the main characters in the plot. But I just could not understand the part where Ray manages to free himself (escaping the trunk of his Cadillac via the backseats). Kevin James could not follow Ray out due to his stocky physique so Ray had to get out of the car and free his associate via the trunk itself. Question: Instead of going through the trouble of frantically searching for something to pry it open, would it not have been simpler to unlatch the driver's door (since he was already IN the car) and reach for the trunk-release lever, conveniently located by the driver's seat, which would have automatically popped open the trunk? Is it just me or did anyone else notice this detail? I can't get over that part!

Maybe the car didn't have one.....not all vehicles do.

My 83 Coupe DeVille did not have one.

Base models didn't in 83 but the option was available (I have a base model '83 myself and I'm glad the original buyer didn't get the option because those trunks are notoriously easy to break into)

He was probably freaking out and not thinking straight.

That handy lever is not included on this fine 70's vehicle.

I only watch DVDs. I prefer unrated versions and access to alternate endings and deleted scenes.

it is a mid to late 80s Cadillac Fleetwood, there is a button in the glove box, but you cannot use it unless there is a key in the ignition, the whole reason being making thing in the trunk hard to get to when the car is broken into

Im a Cadillac collector and fan

I'm guessing you're too young to know that is a relatively new, modern convenience, not readily available in older vehicles... and when it was first introduced, it was a button in the glove box.

Inadvertently pissing people off since 2008
