Does anyone know the details on this being a remake of a 1990 movie of the same title? I checked out the link on IMDB for that movie and the synopsis reads like a totally different movie, aside from the title.

actually the original short film is a part of this film... it is John Goodman's flashback as a 12 year old... it's pretty cool the way it is used...
shareThey incorporated the earlier short film into this one. On the commentary track they told what had become of most of the kids who were not professional actors.
The blonde kid, who John Goodman was based on, is in the later portion of the movie. He plays a co worker of Robert Carlyle as a baker. He is the blonde man with a beard. He is on the commentary track and appeared to be quite taken by Marisi Tomei calling her "hot."
