Why the Winnipeg reference?

Just curious as to what was up with the Winnipeg reference at the end of the movie (when Chris Carmacks character says "Goodnight Winnipeg!"

i came on here tonight to find out exactly this, i live in winnipeg and went back just because it was so random i had to make sure i heard right. its awesome thats what he said but still i really want to know why winnipeg??

I'm a bit confused on it myself but since I'm a Winnipegger, i'm kinda happy.

Life screwed me over, now I'm not too fond of it

You know, I really don't think there was any real significance to it. Maybe someone on the crew was from Winnipeg. Maybe it just made a nice random city to put in the line.

I thought that mention was meant go mean that he longer was able to play in major cities, but had to resort to play somewhere as remote as a city like Winnipeg. A bit of a slam against Winnipeg, but more a slam against Jason for being a jerk and his career now having taken a nosedive.
