Am I the only who thought this movie was good?

I thought this movie was great. Not the greatest story and stuff, but a nice little movie! But everyone seems to hate it!

Anyone else who liked this movie?

reply

No, you;re not. Although in minority.
I don't get why people hate Guy X so much. Not that it's my favourite film, but I had fun watching it.

I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

Wasn't the most unbelievable of movies, but it actually worked very well for me. Liked the whole 'mistery' going on with the 'allegedly' dead soldiers from vietnam, being old platoon members of the Major.

I also liked how it was a light 'comedy' at start, with all the akward situations "Mr.Pederson" goes through... but always touching a bit of madness (how would you be if you were stationed at damn Greenland, 3 months of night in the middle of nowhere?).

To all the bashers... get a clue! It's not supposed to be the best of movies, or even attempts to, but it's a very clever flick. I recommend watching, even though it can be a pain to find. Really.

I see it's billed as a comedy here in imdb. That could be a big reason. It's not funny and it's not what I'd call a comedy. Maybe a black comedy, but I've never been sure what to make of that designation.

I also read someone refer to the star as being from some other comedy.

So if most people went into this film expecting comedy and funny, a lot of them would be really diappointed.

Personally, I got hooked early and I really liked it. I rate it a solid 8.

I thought this movie was mildly entertaining. I had high hopes for it after the first 10 minutes--it looked like it was going to be funny in parts.

I think part of the problem was the casting. I just didn't get into Jason Biggs' at all. A different actor might have made me care about his plight a bit more. I like Natasha McElhone in a show. But, the thing that stuck in the back of my mind throughout this movie was how implausible it was that someone like her would be there in the first place. It seemed to be an army base of losers and misfits with one intelligent gorgeous level headed supermodel Sargeant? hmmmm.

What also didn't make sense to me was how she never knew what was going on. Like everything was a big surprise to her--and she'd been on the base 3 years and had access to absolutely everything.

I also had trouble hearing some of the dialogue. I went back and rewound different scenes a few times and couldn't understand what the characters were saying. There were like 4 or 5 times in the movie that I just didn't hear what was said--and you couldn't make it out at all...no matter how many times you replayed it.

Nice cinematography in parts...could you fix the sound somehow? The plot was a little bit choppy--it needed something more. More tension around the 'mystery'. More character development with the secondary characters...more something...

No, you are not. But you must know that the majority of contributors to this forum are about 14 years old, only marginally literate, desperate for the attention they are denied in real life, and most definitely lack the ability to relate to films like 'Guy X'. Most probably, many of the contributors followed Mr. Biggs from his better known 'American Pie' film franchise, with its simpleminded plotlines and easy payoffs; needless to say, many of them feel disappointed. I for one enjoyed this film from start to finish. I enjoyed it because it was unconventional. I was surprised by the change of gears midway through the film, which I thought was well-handled by the filmmakers. Most of all I enjoyed Jason Biggs' performance, which proved to me, at least, that he has an acting future beyond brain-dead sex-and-potty humour. I recommend the film to people interested in broadening their personal film-viewing experience.

Welllllll, depends on how good "good" is.........

I thought it was mildly entertaining, but in no way, shape or form worth watching twice. I will not recommend it to anyone, nor will I remember it in a couple of years time. Jason Biggs showed he can act more adult than his character in American Pie, though.

To the above poster - I havenĀ“t been accused of being 14 since I was .... well 14.
