I'd recommend Douglas Coupland's novel "Generation X" as it has a similar two boys and girl dynamic and more references to the experiences of the post-60's generation.

Die Zweite Heimat is a great, but very long (26 hour) chronicle of the 60's through the eyes of young Germans. There is some reference to Baader-Meinhof in that too.

Another Ken Loach film, I don't think it was mentioned above, that's appropriate here is Riff Raff, not about youth per se, but about exploitation and the perils of working with little or no protection.

Good to see The Battle of Algiers mentioned, it's been way too long since I saw it last, but it's easily one of the finest political films ever made.

Julio Medem's Basque Ball is an interesting documentary about the politics of that region.

Mouth to Mouth, with Ellen Page.

'A Reaffirmation of Freedom' read the box, and I absolutely agree. A bit hard to track down but so beautifully worth it, and with the same intimate camera style of the Edukators.

Good Bye Lenin!
