The Dad coach punishing his son the pitcher

While in the orginal it seem harsh but in this movie he just grabbed the kid and shook him and the kid fell yet people made a big deal and even the mom had a problem well the kid deserved it I mean c'mon he could have killed Engleberg seriously why would anyone make a fuss about him grabbing or so pushing him it seemed as if he fell on his own and they hate him for it when he deserved to be punished for almost killing the poor kid.

hmm. It's all considered child abuse. So what your saying is that its ok for you to grab your kid like that when he makes a mistake?

That was no mistake he purposly did that and I've seen worse so yeah thats nothing compared to what I've seen and been through.

reply

I still dont get why you think grabbing a kid like that is ok. God help your kids.

First of all I am 17 almost 18 so yeah I dont have any kids and second on both sides of my family I come from a discipline family Air Force/Army family so hitting people in both side is how the kids are punish even though we dont like doing it cus we dont like hurting people but yeah he did deserve a smack for that cus he could have killed the kid.

Future kids then. IT DOESNT MATTER! THAT'S CHILD ABUSE! He couldnt have killed the kid. Just because they call it disciplining doesn't make it right. He's a kid the dad is a grown man he should've kept his cool and scolded the kid not grabbed him by the collar and pushed him or caused him to fall. That's all there is to it

That whole scene sucked anyway. 1976 was true to real life. No one called it child abuse. The words were not even put together yet. And some how we lived on. Only to scold or kids today (which is a joke). If there's a God, he maybe the only one that can save today's children.

I'm with you buddy. I don't have kids yet, but when I do, I plan on hitting them when they need it. It happened to me, and it helped keep me in line, so I'll do it to my kids. I'll also wash their mouths out with soap like my parents did to me and my siblings.

Hitting kids just guarantees they won't behave like that IN FRONT OF YOU. It's true that the 76 version was worse, but the dad in this still wasn't right. He grabbed the kid, yelled at him, making him fall - embarrassing him in front of everyone. When I have kids one day, I will make sure that I discipline while still respecting them.

This is such a candy-ass remake that the pushing him down thing was supposed to cover for the vicious slap in the 76 version.

Says something about today when we can't even show real abusiveness (which the hard slap was) instead we try to cover it up and it comes out lame......

All the father did was grab his son by the arm. That's hardly child abuse, and was called for considering the kid could have killed the batter if the ball had hit him. Then the kid would have wound being charged with assault or even manslaughter. The kid then fell down on his own. To even suggest this was child abuse is absurd.

The entire film was lame. It was basically the original script just revised to be more politically correct. The movie is such a literal ripoff that even the screenwriter of the original movie, who has been dead for eight years, is credited as a co-writer of the new film.
