This movie is totally brilliant (here is why people don't like it)

This movie was one thousand times better than the original. I can't believe how many people are ripping on it.
I watched it with an 8 yr old who said it was the best film he had ever seen. (It was not really appropriate for an 8 year old, but whatevs)
I think people hate it because this movie has a complete lack of cliches. Linklater is too subtle a director. Most kids films are riddled with endless cliches. So this makes lots of people uncomfortable, because they are not told how to feel. They think the brilliant acting is bad and they don't get it - because they want movies that are predictable and stupid.

The reason people don't like it is because it is a poor remake of one of the best movies of the 1970s. The acting in the original was superb, and for all the swearing the kids did in the original, the screenplay didn't stoop to the crassness of the remake. Subtlety was not evident in the remake.

Not only that, but the original provided some interesting insights into the pressures that parents foist upon their kids who play youth sports, using their kids as a tool to compensate for the dissatisfaction with their own lives. TBNB '76 had a lot more going for it than just kids acting outrageous and crass. And Matthau runs circles around the much less interesting and believable Billy Bob.

People don't like this one because it stunk. Even as a stand-alone movie it's awful.

I ag?ee, for this movie is beyter than the first one, lots of people say the original is better, but they have to add "for me"!! In my case I have seen this movie (the second one) five times and each of them I laugh as the first time I saw it. For me, the best comedy I ever seen in my life, jokes are so crazy and I love? it!!!
