British dvd situation

A few weeks ago the shops in Britain had a dvd boxed set of the first 3 series.
It was at a good price and I was planning to buy it but is has disappeared.
The first 3 series and the last 2 are all available on dvd but as individual series at a much higher price.
What is going on here,I could understand the cheap dvds being available after the full price ones have been out for a while but the other way round seems crazy ?

reply

Play.com are selling a box set with all five series - reduced from £50 to £18.

Hopefully that betters your previously spotted bargain for the first three. I think it was just deleted and replaced by the fuller set.

reply

has it been that cheap for this long? I ordered it for that price last week!

reply

ZAVVI in Newcastle Upon Tyne have the 5 series boxed set for £25.
What a bargain.
The box dies say it is the "COMPLETE COLLECTION" so does that mean we won't see any more MURPHY'S LAW? hope not.
I stand by my previous suggestion that Murphy should go international and work abroad.

reply

£15.95 on dvd.co.uk for the whole 5 series.

If you want to watch the full, unadulterated episodes as originally screened on BBC1 then AVOID these DVDs!

They are the cut down versions as produced for the overseas market - about 10 minutes have been removed from each episode to allow for networks to insert advert breaks.

Unfortunately if you want the full unadulterated episodes then you're stuffed. There aren't any. What a cock-up. :-(

series 1 of murphy's law is being released uncut by acorn media for a region 1 release.

reply

You can get all five now on Amazon.uk. It wasn't too expensive.....

reply

But they're still the edited versions and are missing about 10 minutes from each episode.

reply

The Australian release (R4) of Murphys Law Seasons 1-5 is complete and uncut.

Are you sure about this? According to somone on Amazon, the Australian DVD company just based the running times on the original BBC documentation and the episodes are in fact the cut ones, same as the rest of the world.
