Apparently, Season Eight is in the works.

Just read it today in my local newspaper. Will be shown in England in 2017, with the USA to follow at some indeterminate time.

Also announced: S8 will be the last, again.

I watched the first five episodes of Series 7 and had the balance recorded on my DVR but hadn't watched them. (I'm in the States and watch on PBS.) Then my DVR crashed and I lost them.

I'm not heartbroken. I watched those Series 7 eps I did see with a mixture of reluctance and curiosity. This program seems to be going in circles, hanging on because the premise was so strong (it hooked me), but after the end of Series 5 it just seemed to be coasting on inertia.

As far as I'm concerned, this show can "coast" until the end of my life. There are so few shows on TV that are as charming and engaging as this one.

Good for you. As far as I'm concerned, life is too short to be eating this particular stale dish over and over.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, darryl. The rest of us will keep enjoying the adventures of Portwenn's inhabitants.

Yes, Prince Charles met the cast and crew last week. So happy we're getting more episodes.

I think they should leave well alone. Season 7 was pretty silly, especially the last episode. can't think how they are giing to squeeze another season out of it.

Personally I think a fine last shot for the entire series would involve Doc Martin & Buddy riding off in the car toward home. (Oh sure, but it's better than the Series 7 finale, at least for my own nickel.) 
