Confused about seasons

I read that series 9 is the last, but in recent interviews Martin Clunes say series 8 will air in the fall of 2017 and series 9 in the fall of 2018. But I've already seen 8 on public TV here in the U.S and IMDB shows series 8 as having aired. Is that right, or do we have the seasons/series all wrong here in the U.S?

Only seven series have been shown so far, and we're awaiting series 8. IMDb is indicating series 8 in readiness.

If there aren't any skeletons in a man's closet, there's probably a Bertha in his attic.

There were a couple of TV movies that aired first which inspired the current show. Maybe they're counting them in US
