What's it about?

I've tried to watch a few episodes. I like the dark look and mood (tho it's so darkly shot it's sometimes hard to see what's going on or tell the caharcters apart (for me anyway...maybe it would help to have geneticly enhanced eyesight :)).

But, having missed the beginning, I can't follow it at all. You know with most shows, you can come in on almost any episode and figure out most of it half way through or at least by the end...not this one (at least for me). And I found the official website equally murky and impenetrable.

So I'm wondering if there's a fan website out there that has a reasonably simple introduction to the series. Cause I'd like to give it a shot.

It's the story of three parallel universes. Alphaverse is high-tech, polluted, and has wasted all its natural resources. Betaverse is our world. Gammaverse is a clean utopian world where they use their resources more intelligently.

A large corporation called Vexcor is trying to open a link between it's own universe (Alphaverse), and their branch facilities in Beta and Gamma, basically to steal resources, mainly fresh water. Two freedom fighters from Gammaverse blow up the facility as the link goes active though, and the resulting explosion warps time-space and traps two people in Betaverse with no way of getting home. The destruction of the link also cuts off contact between Vexcor's head offices, except for the one person who can travel between worlds - the head of Vexcor's son, 01 Boxer.

Notable Alphaverse Characters:

-Charlie Jade, a missing persons private investigator. He was investigating a murder that led him to the Alpha facility when it exploded, trapping him in Beta. He is plagued with headaches, and sometimes has visions of people from other universes.
-Brion Boxer, head of Vexcor, is dying from molecular breakdown due to traveling too often through the universes.
-01 Boxer ("Oh One"), Brion's son, a hedonistic spoiled brat whose agenda isn't the same as his father's.
-Essa Rompkin, 01's stepmother. Has an agenda to take over the company, and runs it as Brion is ill.
-SewSew Tukarrs, Charlie's police friend.
-Jasmine, Charlie's girlfriend. She is a "C3", a lower-class citizen, who is not allowed to work due to her social status. Charlie "owns" her because he's a C2, but they have a relationship.

Notable Betaverse Characters:

-Julius Galt, head of Vexcor's Betaverse branch.
-Karl Lubinsky, conspiracy theorist. He takes in Charlie after finding him wandering around, lost in a new universe.
-Paula, Jasmine's "double", a woman who exists in Betaverse but looks exactly like Jasmine.
-Elliott Krogg, a Vexcor employee who knows too much.
-Blues Paddock, a redheaded police officer who is intrigued by Charlie.
-Jody, a young girl who has the same visions as Charlie. She calls the people she sees "invisible people".

Notable Gammaverse Characters:

-Reena, a freedom fighter who took part in blowing up the Vexcor facility to prevent the link from going online. The explosion trapped her in Beta. She is labeled a terrorist in Beta, as the explosion killed around 200 people in the Beta facility.
-"Men in Grey Suits". It isn't confirmed that they're from there, but they show up often and seem to have an agenda that benefits Gamma.

The universes are shown with corresponding cinematography:
Alphaverse - Saturated, with green tint.
Betaverse - Desaturated, with blue tint.
Gammaverse - Super-saturated in all color, with elements of red in each scene.

These are so viewers can tell them apart instantly. There is another universe, with all colors washed-out except for purple, but we probably won't know much about it until a 2nd season, if there is one.
