The show did finish on a cliff hanger. If you like really progressive television with a sci-fi bent then by all means do try to see it. It is some of the very best sci-fi I have ever seen, IMO more interesting and better done even than 95% of such movies. It's a paradox, but there is a lot of closure in the last episode... it is a great end to the series, but the only problem is that it implied so many fascinating ways that the story could be continued. Hardly anyone who I know saw it did not have their mind race at the end at all of the things the ending could mean. This itself indicates some of the brilliance.
Things start slow, but I found the style of the show addictive. It is an intensely personal adventure which just happens to somehow tie in to the very structure of the physical universe itself.
Keep in mind also that many amazing television shows have come and gone which never "formally" finished the story in a neat fashion. Still it is hard to not be disappointed that they were so close to making a second season. Don't let that spoil your viewing.
Thank you every so much x1nd0lent for your reply. I am now really looking forward to this. The FX channel (UK) is still just giving us the briefest of ads saying 'coming soon'. Soo frustrating!

After hearing so much about this show I found it online (veho) and managed to see all 20 episodes. This is incredibly well-made and well worth watching. When (if) you watch it you should view it as a story, not a TV show. All good stories have a beginning and an ending. Charlie Jade is no different. I'm not surprised there is no season 2 - there is no need for it. The story is complete.

What the heck have you been smoking? They tied-off a few loose ends, mainly sub-plot stuff that had built-up over the course of the season, but the main story and plot were neither revealed or resolved in the slightest. Indeed, if anything the additional possibilities given by the cliffhanger ending make the mystery even more confounding.
And yes, to the person that wanted to know if it's still worth seeing, the answer is a resounding "yes." This was a phenomenally good show, a real rarity in this day and age of mediocre, craptacular television. Not only was it sci-fi, but it managed to maintain the atmosphere and style of a theatrical production, and didn't "dumb down" to the expected TV format & flavor. Imagine watching Blade Runner, and having it last 20 hours. :)
I was stunned that this show didn't continue past its first season. If ever one wanted proof that the network suits haven't got a clue about their own product and customers, or that quality doesn't seem to count for anything anymore, Charlie Jade's cancellation should suffice.
I also thought that the story is pretty much complete. What remains to be said? All the mysteries have been resolved. Perhaps the last scene with Charlie and O1 in the hospital provide a somewhat open end in the sense that you don't know exactly what's going to happen to them - but not much of a mystery. If the show would have a second season it would have to have an entirely new story line.
I think second season of Charlie Jade is necessary. I know that main mystery about vexcor and link to another universes is revealed, but what happend to Charlie and 01 when they go through the link ? Where they are in the last scene of season 1 ? Maybe the main mystery is revealed but we have a new, and i think this mystery had to be revealed. Maybe it happend in future, who knows ? For now the season 2 is not cancelled, but it's on hiatus because the producers don't have a money to make it. Maybe if in UK FX channel CJ make a big success, they help producers of CJ make a season 2. With reference to script, i mailing the main producers Chris Roland and Robert Wertheimer, but they say nothing about it. I think if this series is still in production hiatus that we didn't get any script :/
PS We have to fight for the season 2 of this show !!!! We have to mail the producers !!! Charlie Jade has not yet die. As long as we alive.
If they have no plans to ever produce the second season, I'd love to get a hold of the scripts just to see how it ends.
Me too! They should write a book or a graphic novel if they can't get it made into TV. Just to satisfy our curiosity.
Having said that, I don't mind if it stays as it is. It was brilliant and I'm happy for my imagination to fill in the blanks and finish off the story. I've only watched it once - I'm going to have to see it again to see if I can pick up on more things the second time.

I think the series is great. I loved it. But I am sorry guys; that last episode was horrible. It was a letdown compared to the other episodes and they could've done a better job with that episode.
But I hope they make a second series anyway. Or failing that they should redo the last episode as a TV mini-film; I think they could make that episode into something far greater if they tried hard enough.
I thought the three universes were brilliant. I wanted to find out more about life inside them myself.
I like the way the producers confronted real life issues too. Like environmentalism; the future; overpopulation; technology; corporate domination; etc.
I also think it's scary that one day we could all end up living in an alphaverse of our own. I think that's the way we're currently heading.
After all; the Alphaverse is meant to be our world ''an hour and a half from now'' or something like that.
almost 9 years later, we now have crowd sourcing and we've seen what they can do for the likes of the predator franchise.
We need a bunch of people who are good at the effects, and a collaboration of epic writers, and start a resource pool to get Season 2 happening. Sure it wont likely have any of the original cast.. :/ which would be a sad thing..
but it's time we the viewing audience had more control over things like this. This show doesn't deserve a single lone season with no more to be told.
It deserves a proper course, the story to be completed. And in a way, the original format allows for it to be done this way, who needs mainstream media to keep us entertained. For a long time fanfiction has entertained a subculture within other media.
Charlie Jade will only never see a Season 2 if we do nothing... we've tried the official route, and they've just left it hanging mid air.
Damn it if I had the funding I'd do it myself, just so others could benefit. This is an opportunity that should not be missed... even if it only ever saw the inside of a media player on the web, it is a worthy endeavour because I, and I know I am not alone, feel this story has been neglected...
I really like your attitude! Look at Veronica Mars. The movie came out almost 10 years later . It was a Kick Start enterprise. The creator and some of the stars were behind it. The fans had been for years asking when there would be more. I don't think the same fan base exists but never say never.
If you go to the website, there has been little activity. Summer Brooks has kept it up and running. She is an interviewer on Slice of Sci-Fi radio. Her podcasts were well done and she has a real love for the show.
