I've been watching this new version of Captain Scarlet and am astonished Hollywood hasn't picked up on the fact that it has all the makings of a fantastic series of live action films.
I watched the old series on DVD (to relive my childhood!) and, like you, was surprised that no-one has thought to make a movie. It's got terrorists, aliens, heros in tight uniforms, and groovy looking jets and things. Very topical, and I'm sure it could be given the spin of global war on terror.
personally id rather see it as a live tv series.. i think it has good potential to a classic series if done right maybe using some tips from the makers of the new doctor who..
I'm surprised a live action film or tv series hasn't been made too, to be honest. I think it would be a fantastic series to adapt to live action and frankly has more potential to attract a mature audience than Thunderbirds. I suppose Thunderbirds is just better known, but it is more suited to kids' tv than Captain Scarlet in my opinion.
Thunderbirds is getting yet another reboot by the looks of things - here's hoping Captain Scarlet will get some of that attention sometime soon.
This has incredible potential. Hollywood should snap up the rights to a live action series of films. Captain Scarlet is one of the greatest sci-fi characters ever. Done properly it could be spectacular.
