with all the crap thats going on. They could be murdered anytime. What a twit.

Apple paid money for the iPod to appear in the movie, so she got to listen to some music on it, it's that simple :D

reply

The amount of product placement in this movie was astounding.

Not to mention the blender that Ford uses to kill the guy.
"It gives a beating and keeps on frappeing" or something clever like that.

reply

And was annoying when he said "10000 songs, 10000 account numbers, makes no difference". Clearly advertising for the iPod.

reply

In general the complacency of the kids while being held hostage was ridiculous. The daughter just wanted to hang onto her ipod ("will I get it back?") and the son just wanted to eat cookies, buddy-up with the head bad guy and make pancakes, answer the phone like it was just another day at home, and for heaven sakes don't take away the scruffy dog when the whole family is about to die.

Have to admit though, it's a good movie for people who like to fling abuse at the screen =)

Yeah this film was like a huge advertisement for Windows XP and the iPod lol

reply

yeah got to love that lingering shot of that windows logo when Ford Starts upthat PC in the appartment

I don't find product placement distracting. What I really find distracting is when they use fake products or put tape over the brand name of something. That kind of jars you out of the moment and reminds you this is just a movie. When they turn on a laptop, of coure it's going to say Windows or Mac, doesn't everyone's?

reply

I totally agree. Most people seem to disagree with that though. People complained about FedEx in Cast Away... I think it's refreshing. One thing I liked (1 out of 2 things...) about this movie was that the computers they used were actual computers (Windows XP, command prompt, outlook, .etc). I HATE when movies (and this is 99% of them) have computers with fake operating systems that are retardedly designed with over the top visual aspects and animations that are so unrealistic. Yeah, when a CIA agent in an office clicks on a thumbnail, it scales up incrementally real quick and all the textual information wipes in from the right all while a few rotating pie charts nest at the corner of the screen.

Sometimes it can be funny...
If you know Nickolodeon series such as Victorious (2010), iCarly (2007) or Zoey 101 (2005).
They don't use Apple products, but Pear products instead such as Pear pads, Pear phones etc: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/8a/3f/19/8a3f191b98121ca9b6dbef1e67ecf938.jpg.

If you think this is a new development in the entertainment industry, you're sadly mistaken. Go watch 2001: A Space Odyssey from 1968 and you see all kinds of product placement.

reply

My understanding was that yeah, there were products/brand names visible in some movies for decades, but it wasn’t until E.T. (Reese’s Pieces) that companies paid for the placement.

reply

It became more worse. In between they even pay for the displacement of other brands. Watch MCU movies and try to find a different car logo than the one they focus on. It's close to impossible.

She's a rebellious teen. She probably was ready to tell all those thugs to go to hell. Then she probably thought, "whatever!" and put her headphones on. LOL

Or you're just dumb..

Whenever I'm stressed I like to hear my own music as well.
No matter if it's calm suiting music which calms me down or blasting death/black metal.
That way I can withdraw/retreat to my own (safe) comfort zone.
