I was at the premier of Wild Girls Gone

I saw the premier of Wild Girls Gone at the Florida film festival. The movie was funny but not as good as the UCB show. All of the UCB cast played only one character in the movie. This was probably a better choice for making the movies storyline more cohesive and less confusing to most viewers not familiar with the UCB. This did take away the strengths of the UCB, in their ability to create so many original characters. I found that the movie had a lot of the same problems as a Saturday Night Live film when one character from a three minute sketch is stretched to fill a full movie. I am a huge UCB fan and liked the film but still left a little disappointed. It was very similar to the feeling you might get from watching Run ronnie run if your a fan of Mr. Show. After the film the director John Ennis took a few questions from the audience, he mentioned he was a performer from the UCB theater. The response from the audience was very positive, although the local newspaper gave it a bad review. John Ennis said that if this film does well there may be more UCB films coming. If the film is ever released on DVD it should make its money back because the budget looked like it was maybe 20 bucks. Im hoping to see Martin and Orloff to see how it compares. Hopefully it will get released on DVD soon.

Martin and Orloff was funny, but like you said, it really didn't feel like a UCB episode. The constant cameos were pretty cool. I saw that at a free screening in some weird office building in Hollywood.

Maybe feature length movies aren't their strong suit. :\
