God, Puerto Rico never gets any attention. I am Puerto Rican but to many I either look Cuban or American and it was hard to prove to my teachers in both Maryland and California that I was indeed a Puerto Rican. The reason I would have to prove is because I would cause a ruckus in the classroom when they did not mention us or when I fought for its reputation. I will never in my life forget when a teacher said it was somewhere around China. This was a teacher at a "Blue Ribbon" school. Oh goodness! I am just happy that we are being mentioned in a positive form, not in some gory news headline. I am so proud that she spoke about our writers, artist and well-educated activist and not our foul mouth Reggaetton artist. I love my little island and would love for it to be recognized for having so much to offer that you don't even know where to beguine.
