Really late, I know, but I agree, an amazing documentary! I got to see this at the Rome International Film Festival in 2005, and actually got to meet Ms. Davenport afterward.
I bought a copy from her and watched it one other time since about a year later. Unfortunately, I think I have lost my copy :-( So, it's been 5+ years since I have watched this, but some things I remember:
~ Opening with the other woman holding the camera the wrong way. This sets the tone perfectly, a hands on documentary dealing with real people.
~ I remember her meeting some people who lived in the woods, following them out there in the snow by herself!
~ I can remember her meeting a guy living out of his truck, he was content with shooting squirrels for dinner.
~ I can remember her being somewhere in Georgia, and almost being harassed by racists while filming cows.
~ Really, it just ends up being an amazing documentary about life, and the vastness of character in this country, even in our similarities.
A well done documentary that everyone should see before they die. It will only get more and more interesting as 9/11/01 gets further away.
