Why is the averaged rating so low????

Sometimes it seems like IMDB uses some "fuzzy math" to arrive at the overall "User Rating". It would appear that they made a grave error calculating the rating for this fine movie. I'm a middle-aged white male and I loved this movie! I enjoyed this movie so much and to think I might have avoided it because a "low" rating. Just a word of caution about "User Rating": read the reviews. they're a lot more telling.

Good point. I don't know if they actually use our ratings. Seems like they don't.

I learned many years ago, even before the internet even existed, never to judge a movie by what other people say...I watch the movie and form my own opinion.

because this is only IMDB, it doesnt really count ... i have seen really good movies on here average a 7 ... and the people had good things to say about these movies ... basically what i am saying is that a 7.5 is a good score ... you know what .. check out the so called top 150 films ... look at the score and then you'll understand ...

I'd give this movie a 10. How can anyone think its below at least an 8 is beyond me, my honest opinion really.

Bil-it has been several films I have seen-some good "black films" particularly-but films generally that should have gotten higher ratings than they did! I thought this movie was good too. I don't understand the criteria they use to rate movies either!

anyone would have to be a complete moron to rate this movie low..........
10 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The answer to your question: Because good taste is dead (on imdb anyway).

"This is IMDB: No one is ever respectful."

The IMDB weighted average is 7.5.
The arithmetic mean is 8.3.
The median is 9.

Weighted Average Ratings
IMDb publishes weighted vote averages rather than raw data averages. Various filters are applied to the raw data in order to eliminate and reduce attempts at 'vote stuffing' by individuals more interested in changing the current rating of a movie than giving their true opinion of it.

The exact methods we use will not be disclosed. This should ensure that the policy remains effective. The result is a more accurate vote average.
