On Costigan, Sullivan, Brown and Berrigan

Regarding the final confrontation between Costigan, Sullivan, Brown and Berrigan, Benjamin Franklin (himself a Bostonian) said this: "Three can keep a secret if two are dead." In this case when it was revealed that Sullivan was a mole inside the MSP, Costigan, Brown, and Berrigan (who was a mole as well), all four had a secret and three died. 😀

The "secret" Brown had was what Costigan told him about Sullivan being a mole for Costello; it just so happens that Berrigan was another man Costello had inside the MSP. Berrigan killed Costigan and Brown, then Sullivan killed Berrigan. With them being silenced, nobody else in the MSP knew Sullivan was a rat for Costelleo except maybe Dignam and his ex-fiancée Madolyn.
