Please tell me it gets better.....

So far all I've done is do this really odd crouch-walk thing in the dark (torch attracts too much attention), avoid the badies (not much use stoping to kill they because they get back up again -_-) and waist bullets.
Everything about this game seems screwy, from the cut-scenes to the graphics to the controls.
The moment a badie touches me I'm dead, no chance to fight back at all, no ducking, blocking or fighting back?! (Is this normal??)
Do we spend the game crawling around in the dark to avoid the monsters or do we get to actually DO something????
Is there ever any:
Problem solving?
Puzzels?
A weapon that works on these monsters? (and keeps them down)
A level that does not involve crawling around in the dark avoiding nasties?

Its 2am and I'm finding this game so slow and irritating that I think I'll go to bed instead of play (which is strange for me, I'll sit up to all hours of the morning playing games but I just cant be bothered with this one)

I admit the first levels are more about crouching but in my opinion the levels get better if you are further in the game and when you start to feel more comfortable about the controls and game mechanics.

Yeah there's much of it in this game but really often the solutions are pretty hard to figure out and/or are sometimes totally over the top.

Unfortunately there is no weapon that keeps the monsters down forever, it's just how the game is.
I only can recommend that you try to get accustomed to the timing while fighting baddies.
What usually works well for me is to wait until they are close to you (about 7 feet/ 2 metres) and while they are still approaching you push the X button hard. The monster stumbles back a little and usually waits for a second or two. Immidiately push X hard again when they start to walk towards you again and repeat this procedure until they are down.

There are also day levels but avoiding monsters is the priority, you have to resign to the fact that Forbidden Siren is a stealth game foremost (and a really hard and nitpicky one at that)

I can understand when you're frustrated about this game, believe me I was there, too (in fact the game made me once so angry that I didn't play it for nearly a month). But the further you come into the game the more you will like it, sadly it takes its time before this will happen. Siren is like a good friend who has his/her quirks but you somehow accept them, I know it sounds stupid but it's true.

Check out this url http://homepage3.nifty.com/shin3/yaricom/yaricom.htm and click on Siren on the left, it's all Japanese but it's not hard to figure out which links are the video downloads as they're in a chart. These video walkthroughs should give you a clue how to play the game.

I hope I could help you.

ok, So maybe I was a little to quick to judge, and it doesn't help that my PS2 is very new, and I'm used to N64 controls....I'm so stuck in the past, I cant part with the 64. :D
anonymUser, after reading your reply I've decided to give the game another go, no matter how frustrated it makes me, now all I need is cola and candy............ :p

Well, it's unfortunate that you've stumbled across a game like Forbidden Siren which has sucky controls, as much as I love the story and atmosphere but the gameplay needs a very serious overhaul

well I hope you can manage to beat the game even as how frutrating it is but in the end you won't regret it, in fact when I've beaten the game I was so euphoric that I almost felt like a superhero

okay, i don't own a ps2, but i was on the g4techtv.com site and i saw an x-play review of this game. it was funny. but i couldn't help wondering what exactly happened to make these people zombies. it's a funny review. but i guess it shows the positives of the game. i mean come on, they gave it a 4 out of 5. but seriously, what happened to those people, and what was with the river of blood?

Robin, if you've "stopped" me, then why am I still here? -Slade

Well if I would reveal how these people became zombies it would kinda spoil the bonus video that has to be unlocked. About the river of blood: it's not blood it's a wierd type of water but I can't go into detail as it would spoil a major part of the plot and I don't want to ruin it for somebody who hasn't finished the game but if you want to know more (or in this case everything) just PM me.

More of a chore than fun or scary. Oh well, back to Silent Hill.

Scarier? Perhaps. The fact that you had no weapons for a lot of the time helped!
All three of the franchises are awesome though for that creepy, unsettling atmosphere.
