What comes to mind is the old MTV series Aeon Flux... especially in terms of art.

Well that would be because they are both the art of Peter Chung.

I mean animation like Dark Fury that is NOT Peter Chung, as I have seen all of his public work.

Other good animated titles I know about are Akira, the Animatrix, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Heavy Metal, Heavy Metal 2000, Afro Samurai, Ninja Scroll. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within had a weak story but the animation is incredible, you might like it. I'm not big on anime but all the stuff I listed is awesome.

The only ones I can think of right now are Aeon Flux and the one about Alexander the Great, but i cant remember the name of it.

The thing about Alexander the Great was called Reign: The Conqueror (I think). Wasn't it a series though? I caught it on Adult Swim, in episodes.

Edit-- I'm surprised to find out that Peter Chung wasn't involved with Reign: The Conqueror. It reminded me of Aeon Flux so much, that I always just assumed it was done by him.

yes it was a series but i had always assumed that chung was involved in it, and according to wikipedia

"The design of characters and settings was given to Peter Chung, the Korean-American animator behind Aeon Flux; most of the production work was also handled by Korean animators."

meaning that he wasnt involved in the animation and such but he did design the charaters and the visual style.

Appleseed
Ghost in the Shell 1 & 2
Metropolis (Metoroporisu) from 2001

And check out the live-action films "Casshern".

I'm about to see "Spriggan" and "Ritana (The Returner)". Those look good.

I know this is an OOOOOLLLLLD thread, but if you're still on the hunt, "Ghost in the Shell" "Akira" "Heavy Metal" and "Berserk" come readily to mind. Somebody said "Ninja Scroll" and it's a good one as well.
