Awesome Movie!!!

Never thought that a sequel could be better than its predecessor. Now when that sequel is a 30 minute anime film and its predecessor is a full-length mega production, that is saying something. Waiting to see the final installment of the series -hopefully tonight.

Universal made Dark Fury and Van Helsing: The London Assignment as little mini-prequels to their big summer releases back in 2004. Not really sure why they tried it - maybe they were trying to attract anime fans? Anyway, they haven't done it since, probably because most people weren't willing to pay $15 for a little 30 minute animated thing.

Anyway, they're filming a new Riddick movie now, in case you like the series thus far.

Universal was essentially trying to cash in.

They were expecting the films to be pretty huge, and the figured having animated prequels that tied in would earn them some extra revenue.

Both of the films were expected to be franchises...at least Riddick was planned to be the first of 3, and Van Helsing had hopes for a sequel AND even had TV show spin-off in the works.

Universal was trying to make the right moves to kick start franchises, brands...but neither film panned out like they had hoped.

Either way, I'm very glad we are finally getting a new Riddick film.
